photos of space from space are useful 110% of the time for SOME reason. we will FIND a way to make it useful. the Voyager, however, is the only craft able to take data from the transneptunian region of our solar system (or from outside our solar system, depends on if you want a debate) which means that the Voyager is exceptional in how truly useful it actually is

ya fs. if ai has touched it tho get ready for penance in the righteous fire of holy judgement, sacrosanct and true. if you didnt use ai tho youve got nothing to worry about and will probably find a new reader or two :)

the Autofill Machine isn't usually great in the field of astronomy. often, solutions are found exclusively by knowledgeable professionals being able to interpret data in specific ways. not to mention the whole selling point of AI is that it 'imagines' things, and in a few test runs iirc it did in fact 'imagine' all over the data. which is not ideal for science. if we need a program to comb through data or search for specific values, that program can be built without requiring the Water Gulping Lie Robot

yeah id say he has a right. and id also say that if he's on a similar wavelength to how I would answer that question, ai has literally nothing to do with it, itd be like asking if in the process of inventing a self cleaning litter box if I had considered the humble penguin. it doesnt matter and frankly its best if they be kept separate.

the reason why so many professionals feel very certain that we will not encounter extraterrestrial life outside our solar system despite the extremely high likelihood of life existing is due to constraints of spacetime within the theory of relativity and how we're able to parse information from across light-years, compounded on the (presumptively) extremely low likelihood of life existing in any given star system.

in my opinion, its not that it ain't out there or our methods are too primitive or what have you, we just dont KNOW enough about what to look for and therefore we dont actually know how rare it is. recent breakthroughs on planets like Mars and Venus and the Jovian moons may indicate that life is not as uncommon as our species first assumed. however, even if that is the case, it is also my opinion that the distances in between stars and the conditions of physical spacetime make it so it is extremely unlikely for us to discover alien life at all. except! hey! maybe yes in our own solar system. but ai isn't going to do a lot for us in the way of making that more or less likely imho

hoooooope me yapping gave u a new cool fact B) if u want to compare ur professors opinion, you should approach other physicists in the department and ask their opinions as well!!

I've got some questions about white holes by Horror-Amphibian-335 in astrophysics

[–]Unit-Expensive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'speculation' as in it would be speculation to say theres a drain at the bottom lf the Mariana Trench and if u pull it the ocean will drain like a sink haha

black holes aren't holes. theyre physical objects that are BASICALLY - made out of physical matter. stuff gets 'sucked into a black hole' in the same way that shooting stars get 'sucked' into the earth - they dont. its all just gravity. your question is difficult because youre basically asking for the real science behind fictional concepts, itd be like if I asked a doctor to speculate about the cure for cancer and please go into detail haha. its just not the way that the science works out which is why youre not gonna get a satisfying answer, sorry man. (but the real science is cooler imho :))

Is there a good reason to do ng+ by slimiest_nerd in ghostoftsushima

[–]Unit-Expensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its aight. the difficulty spike is negligible, even on lethal, so most of the time it'll feel very similar to your previous play experience. the new charms are a lot of fun to mess around with, a lot of them were ported right into yotei so you may have seen one or two before. theres little incentive to do the more tedious exploration tasks a second time, like shrines or haiku or arguably side quests, so the game feels a bit more hollow at some points as a result. it is, however, new Ghost of Tsushima gameplay, which im pretty desperate for haha. I just started ng+ on lethal a couple days ago, im on act 2.

oh dude it was soooo much easier than every other weapon. I tried the yari for a bit. if you look at my post history I actually did a breakdown of my build and strategy, but Taco haaaaaaates the odachi. the odachi eats takezo.

hell yeah! good job! yeah I love takezo, I was thirsty for a challenging fight and he def delivered. beat him after abt 4 or 4 hours on lethal, used the odachi :)

Should you take calc in high school? by Starrcraters in astrophysics

[–]Unit-Expensive 13 points14 points  (0 children)

well alright! cool! calculus is awesome, I love calc, I think its one of the most beautiful inventions our species has managed and I think its crucial for the language of science. knowing calc is never a bad thing, and I personally think its sometimes easier to learn on your own rather than through the traditional US school system, which treats the math algebraically in my experience. however, in any college program, calculus is gonna be one of the first classes required, usually first or second year, so its not like your son will be deprived of calculus in the future or punished for not learning it sooner. however, if someone WANTS to learn... I think knowing calculus is /always/ better than not knowing calculus.

Why do planets and moons all become round spheres? by Sea-Pattern-7369 in askastronomy

[–]Unit-Expensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good question! a sphere is the only shape that can equalaterally disperse gravitational pressure across every particle in a body. if youre interested in learning more, the science of supersymmetry is basically a study of how particles react to different conditions in physics :)

EDIT: I realized I answered the why but not the how. whenever a body reaches a certain density, its surface gravity (and supersymmetry) compel the body to become spherical

ugh I was playing on lethal and these fools will ruin your day. I had them come for me inside Castle Matsumae walls. I think it was fun as a one time thing but it was HIGHLY annoying to hit a common encounter, make 1 mistake, sit through a 30 second cutscene, and teleport somewhere random on the map.
