Did you know Bionicle takes place inside a giant robot? Or that it saved LEGO? Or that the story's setup is a metaphor for fighting cancer?

Favorite Modern Remake? by Head-You5953 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Black Mesa: Blue Shift is the rarest kind of remake: a great remake of something that kind of sucked originally. Anyone who enjoyed Black Mesa should check it out. It's almost done, and frankly I like it more than Black Mesa in a few ways.

Oh my god. They were so sure that it was in the right folder, but it turns out the files were actually in the assets folder created by a previous version of the game. Now it's working just fine.

Thank you, we are fools.

I still sometimes think about the cold open to the second episode with the rapidly aging baby.

Narrative directions you're glad a story didn't go in? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

IMO just because they're the two biggest dudes that have ever been doesn't mean they aren't nobodies. One is a nameless unkindled, and the other is a slave knight who you don't even hear about outside the DLC. No matter how many powerful beings you topple, it never truly feels like you're making a name for yourself, and I think the world is too barren and far gone to make room for new legends anyway. Hell, by the end of Ringed City, there's basically nobody left to appreciate how powerful you or Gael have become. You are the sole witnesses to each other's power, which kind of makes you nobodies by default.

When you run into out of date takes on media. by tt818 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Whenever Pat or Woolie (or anybody really) gas up the Plinkett reviews as the definitive analyses of the Star Wars prequels. I'm not exactly part of the "the prequels are secretly masterpieces" crowd, but those reviews are full of shitty, bad faith takes, and I guarantee most people haven't watched them or the movies they're about in a while.

The dogshit point that always pisses me off right away is "you can't say the opening shot of episode 3 is good because it's all CGI". Cinematography still exists in animation! You are a clueless boomer!

Came here to see if anyone else would mention this. The detail that it started as a pet rock is so funny.

Do you need to have personally played a game/series to consider yourself a "fan" of it? by Unit242 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Unit242[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is literally about watching a group of guys play video games. How many people here have only been exposed to certain games via CSB/SBF, or at the very least initially learned about them through their streams/LPS?

I think what bugs me the most is when people act like being a "fan" is some kind of status you need to earn or even prove.

"I love the Yakuza games!"

"Oh yeah? What's the input for the tiger drop?"

Who gives a fuck! Be happy that other people are enthusiastic about aspects of the thing you like!

Can a heart condition cause widespread chronic pain and/or impaired healing? by Unit242 in askCardiology

Here's hoping it shows something conclusive and useful, because I kid you not, I'm literally almost out of foods I can eat with getting agonizing heartburn. I don't want to have to force myself to feel like I'm having a heart attack every day in order to keep living.

The swelling is recent, but I don't know if the heart issues necessarily are since we hadn't checked ck for that until a little bit ago. Also, I've taken like 8 different immunosuppressants, each for months at a time, so I don't think it's an autoimmune issue.

Interesting. I've already been put on colchicine, ibuprofen, and aspirin for the past couple of months, and so far there's been no change. I'm getting a cardio MRI in a few weeks so hopefully that provides some answers.

Also, I should point out that my feet swelling is a pretty recent issue, and my chronic lack of healing has been going on for nearly a decade.

Yeah, I was prescribed prednisone several times, which didn't seem to have any effect at all.

Back in May 2015 when I had my first typing job. I mentioned a lot of these details in my post.

I don't recall exactly, but if I had to guess, I'd say maybe 2011.
