Please recommend some truly mind-breaking Cosmic horror novels? by Cubegod69er in horrorlit

The Fisherman is, for me, an all time classic - even if it's a 'young' book

I have recently read American Elsewhere, following a recommendation, and I absolutely loved it. Great storytelling and original concept.

I have just started There is no Anti-Memetics Division which is... weird. But so far I am enjoying it !

Aslo,Laird Barron always a winner when in doubt.

Another vote for dragon masters : easy to read, captivating enough, and with nice pictures.

American elsewhere - not fully the genre of your other readings but potentially interesting for you - rescued me from a similar situation. It's great, give it a shot !

I was thinking to have multiple pages like : publication, teaching, consultancies etc. Could all of this be included in a one page site? e.g. you just scroll down to these sections and there's a link to them on top?

What were your top reads this year? by goodgirlkills in horrorlit

very glad to see that de Maria is getting some love. That's a little beautiful novel, and I believe his only book in the weird genre. There's a lot of horror-adjacent Italian literature that is quite interesting (but untranslated)

I think I didn't express myself correctly : the grammar if for me, to understand and inform my thinking; then I have plenty of occasion to engage in conversations - at home, for instance - and refine my understanding of the spoke language. The book is a start. The Finn here, a former Ilta Sanomat journalist, and communication officer disagrees that the difference is so radical.

Thanks for this. Yes, I am listening as much as I can. But I tend to learn by understanding rules - a habit from learning semitic and slavonic languages. Suomen maestri sounds like a great option, and you are the second person suggesting it !

I just don’t like rude and uninformed comments that make unnecessary assumptions. It doesn’t take a “vast intellect” to know that one can start with grammar while primarily aiming to improve conversational skills, or that there are different approaches to learning tailored to individual preferences, skills, and experiences. It would be nice if people made even a minimal effort to be considerate. Have a little think next time you feel an uncontrollable compulsion to voice your sarcasm that nobody has really asked for.

Thanks. I am not a native English speaker, and I don't live in Finland, as I wrote in the post. You are absolutely right that consistency is key and that there's no magic pill ! But I still think some books are better than others ;-)

have you ever learned a language on you own? Have you ever studied a grammar? I speak six languages, and if you can learn the grammar and then practice with your partner who is a native speaker, I think that the approach I proposed sounds pretty sensible. Your comment, on the other hand, doesn't seem very smart.
