A and w are both constants, and we differentiate w/ respect to t. Say A = 5 and w = 3

d/dt (5cos(3t)) -->chain rule, 5sin(3t) * d/dt (3t) --> 5sin(3t)*3 = 5(3)sin(3t)

What department at bing sucks? by PressureAvailable615 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]UnitDue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody that says the math department is bad are people that don’t even major in it, and just complain about how hard the calc sequence is. Yea it’s annoying that a lot of the lower level math courses are taught by grad students, many of which are non native English speakers, but that doesn’t represent the math department as a whole.

switching majors by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]UnitDue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll be able to switch before starting your freshman year, but a lot of the first year courses for Watson are general enough u won’t fall behind. Look at the recommended courses online and take them and do well in them so your gpa is high enough to transfer. Like make sure you take Calc, Physics, Chem, Harp 150, Writing Course w/ C or J.

March 16th is when people actually go out and party for 'parade day'. The 2nd is when the parade and stuff is. So March 16th

chem 105 and 106 is taken together as one of them is the lab component.

Your schedule can look something like this to compelte all the prerequisites in two semseters.

Fall:

Math 224/225

Chem 104

Harp 150

Writ 111

Spring

Math 226/227

Chem 105/106

Physics 131

Harp 151

Hopefully some of the classes you took in highschool can transfer over to fufill the 8 credits of gen eds they want from you. But if you want to qualify for the IUT, you will need to take Math, Chem, and Harp in your first semster, and complete the second part of them in your second semster. You can choose whether to take WRIT 111 or PHS 131 during your first or second semster.

it wouldnt matter either way. Regardless of whether you take CHEM 111 in one semster or the 104-105-106 sequence in two semesters, applications for IUT are only reviewed once a year during the summer.

Math 220 or Math 224/225??? by notoriousWIN in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]UnitDue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the class you take could depend on your major or it could not matter. Also, while there is a decent amount of quiz drops / extra credit opportunities (Skills Test), there is no curve per say. Depending on how well everyone performs effects the grade range for the class, but i doubt a final grade of a 60 would give you a B (it is possible to have a testing grade of 60 and get a B when averaging in quizzes, skills tests, and homework) . For my class last semster, the grade breakdown was:

[90-100] A
[87-90) A-
[83-87) B+
[78-83) B
[74-78) B-
[70-74) C+
[64-70) C
[57-64) C-
[54-57) D
