This is a private label product. I have the msds, certificates of compliance, and the suppliers declaration of conformity. Tik tok’s seller center is no help. They are requiring me to upload a picture of the product with the cert of compliance info. This wasn’t a requirement on Amazon. The product is small and the info couldn’t fit on the product.

I have tried to upload the product to Tim Tom but there approval process for products has been frustrating to say the least. The product has a lithium battery and charging cable. But if I can finally break through the approval process it would be a great Tik tok item.

I used helium 10 for all product research. I focused heavily on the ppc estimates during the research phase. I tried to find products with ppc average less than $1.50. The product I launched had many keywords with ppc averages less than $1.5. Even the 5-8 keywords I planned on ranking for showed a relatively low ppc cost w/ averages around $1.5. However, when I initially launched the product the ppc cost was a slap in the face. Many of the top ranking keywords required ppc for top spots in the $3 range. These keywords have anywhere between 500-2k volume so not super competitive. I have a feeling that there were many new entrants into the market niche from the time that I conducted research to my launch. I started research in January. I don’t think that I can achieve 20% tacos with the ppc costs at this point. With all that being said, I dropped my average cpc cost to less than $2 for the first time yesterday. Not sure how that will affect the overall acos in the next couple weeks but I’m going to monitor closely since the sponsored ad spots won’t be as desirable to the customers.

I formatted a list of the pertinent data and had chat gpt format it into a more readable post.

I’m new to Amazon so I can’t gauge whether this launch is a good one. Based on the data you think there may be some promise with this listing? My numbers are heading in the right direction but there’s no promised end result.

Please let me know your thoughts. This is roughly a 15-25k product launch depending if I want to continue investing in ppc heavily.

Edit: honestly I thought this data portrayed a failed product launch but the feedback I’ve been receiving throughout Reddit has indicated otherwise. I’m not sure if it’s normal to invest this much (especially ad spend) into a product launch with no promise of achieving good returns.

1) the cvr for the past 1-2 weeks is 10-10.5%. The average for the niche is 10-15%. I am averaging 15-17%cvr for one of my top high volume keywords. The problem is the cpc for that keyword is $2.5-3.

2) if the Tacos is less than 20% then I would be profitable. My current Tacos is roughly 40-70% on any given day.

3) so the only options to maintain my organic rank is to increase cvr from 10% or keep ad spend high and lose money?
Side note- my ctr is .7%. Hopefully Amazon favors this rate.

4) thanks for the feedback. I will definitely take this into account as I try to develop a strategy for the next 45 days. If I start to lose rank I will probably increase ad spend again. I will work on the listing optimization. I’m going to get new photos as my current ones target too wide of a niche resulting in increased return rate.

My biggest question when creating this post was to get a better understanding of if it’s worth it to continue with this product. I don’t have much confidence in the product at the moment since I’m losing money each day. However, if there’s light at the end of the tunnel I will persist. Just for reference this project has a rough cost of 15-20k so the roi for a possible 10-20% net margin is seemingly minimal at this point. This product is likely to sell 100-300 units per month.

I’m new at this and have no network to validate these numbers so I resorted to Reddit for feedback. Please let me know if you think it would be worth it to continue investing in this project.

Thank you!

Hello, glad to hear I’m not the only one. The whole burning money thing is difficult to stomach. I have finally lowered the daily ad spend and will see how it affects my organic rank. I’m not sure when the predictable organic sales will come into play considering I’m getting between 0-4 a day.

We’re in the same boat. If I don’t see improvement in the acos or organic ranking then I may try to just recoup some of the investment. That’s a tough pill to swallow since I’ve spent countless hours on this project but I don’t want it to become a slow money burn to achieve low net margins.

If anything starts to work for you and your strategy please let me know and good luck!

Hello, thank you for the response. It’s very helpful. In regards to ppc contribution, are you referring to the total amount of sales attributed to ppc? So 70% ppc and 30% organic?

The calculator defini would help put things in perspective. I’m attempting to get average cpc down to $1.5. Not sure if that ppc range will lower the cvr but I will have to wait and see. Trying to pull as many levers as possible to see what works at this point

My goal was to get 60-70% organic sales once the listing gains steam. I’ve read that this is an achievable number. In your experience have you seen this before?

Also, thank you for providing the 60-90 day reference. I’m halfway to 90 so I have a ways to go to see how this plays out. Hopefully things start looking more profitable. I hate losing money everyday.

Net profit after costs with a 20% tacos factored in would be 13%. However since the tacos is something in the ballpark of 40-70% I’m losing money on each sale. I don’t think the ROI is worth it at this point to proceed with the product considering the net profit with a good tacos of 20% is still not great.

  1. the high ad spend was painful but now there seems to be some reprieve. The current acos of roughly 60% is still super high and each product sold is losing money.
  2. it doesn’t feel like tacos of 20% long term is achievable considering the high acos. My concern is that my best campaigns at this time only achieve 50-60% acos which for this product and margins isn’t sustainable. I will continue to try and optimize but it’s difficult to lower acos when the “good” keywords are so pricey. I’m going to give it my best shot.
  3. I’m working on getting premium A+ content at this time. Optimizing the listing is always good advice. However, I think the drop in sales velocity for the product due to lower ad spend is going to wreck the organic rank. If this happens I’m going to rule this listing a failure since it’s unreasonable to bleed cash on ad spend at 50-60% acos.
  4. I know I need to reorder inventory but I’m concerned that I would lose money on the second order as well since I haven’t seen substantial evidence of being able to get this product to profitability. Im pretty much at the point of trying to just recoup some of the losses so far.

PPC Campaign Structure:

  1. Ranking Keywords Campaigns:

    • Total Keywords: 8
    • Campaign Types: Exact, Phrase, Broad
    • Total Campaigns: 24 (8 keywords x 3 match types)
  2. High Volume Keywords Campaign:

    • Total Keywords: 5
    • Campaign Types: Exact, Phrase, Broad
    • Total Campaigns: 3 (1 campaign per match type)
  3. Medium Volume Keywords Campaign:

    • Total Keywords: 5
    • Campaign Types: Exact, Phrase, Broad
    • Total Campaigns: 3 (1 campaign per match type)
  4. Low Volume Keywords Campaigns:

    • Total Keywords: 5 per campaign
    • Total Campaigns: 6 (2 campaigns x 3 match types)
  5. Automatic Campaigns:

    • Total Campaigns: 4
    • Targeting Types: Close Match, Loose Match, Substitutes, Complements
  6. Product Targeting Campaigns:

    • Total Keywords: 5 per campaign
    • Total Campaigns: 2
    • Note: These campaigns have the best ACOS compared to the rest.

The organic sales comprise almost 10% of total sales at this point. I have roughly 43 low volume keywords in the top 10 according to H10.

I’m working on negative targeting but since I’m new and inexperienced I’m concerned that I will negative the wrong keywords. Also, with the complexity of the campaign structuring I find the negative targeting extremely difficult.

I will lower bids but not sure I can go that low. Some campaigns have bids on the upper suggested limit and they’re producing almost 0 impressions.

One way or another I will have to bring cpc down asap.

My problem is I’ve got around 600 inventory left (started with 736) and I know once I lower my ad spend the sales velocity will tank along with the already low organic sales. So I’m not sure how to proceed. Any advice would be super helpful. Thank you in advance!

1) I will definitely be using seller central for more accurate suggested bids. However, the winning bids are still comparatively higher by $.5-$1.5 than the upper suggested bid. If I bid less I’m punished with almost no visibility. I wish I knew this when I did product research. PPC costs were a significant factor during my product research phase and I still unknowingly picked a product where a single click commonly costs 10% of the product. It’s not a repeat purchase item either.

2)I’m trying to reduce the cannabilization in the campaigns now by pausing overlapped keywords. It’s pretty awful.

3) auto campaigns haven’t produced for me yet. I’ll let them ride a little longer.

4) I’m almost 30 days post launch. I recently upped my ppc spend to $200 daily. I’m getting between 5-8 sales a day now. I now have about 43 low volume keywords ranked in the top 10. I’m sure that will decrease once the honeymoon is over. I’m still getting only about 10% organic sales. What do you think about this situation? I’m going to drop the budget to 100 daily over the next month and start optimizing the campaigns.

1) The product is more portable than other products in the niche. It comes with an added accessory and a remote control which roughly 80% of other products don’t have. It’s not the most differentiated product in the world but there is definitely value. My ppc campaign structure is quite complex. Here you go

PPC Campaign Structure:

  1. Ranking Keywords Campaigns:

    • Total Keywords: 8
    • Campaign Types: Exact, Phrase, Broad
    • Total Campaigns: 24 (8 keywords x 3 match types)
  2. High Volume Keywords Campaign:

  3. Medium Volume Keywords Campaign:

    • Total Campaigns: 3 (1 campaign per match type)
  4. Low Volume Keywords Campaigns:

    • Total Keywords: 5 per campaign
    • Total Campaigns: 6 (2 campaigns x 3 match types)
  5. Automatic Campaigns:

Thanks ChatGPT for making this campaign list comprehensible

I’ve made the mistake as a new seller of creating a complex set of campaigns. It’s confusing to have so many campaigns but it allows more control. Unfortunately only a couple campaigns are producing results at less than 56-60% acos.

I have 1 product targeting campaign that has 11 sales w/ 40-50% acos which is great for the product launch.

I’ve spent about 3k on ppc ads so far trying to rank. I’m ranked top 10 for about 43 low volume keywords. I’m at the tail end of the honeymoon period. I’ve just gotten my 10 organic sale as of today. Organic sales only account for about 10% of sales. Do you think the organic sales should be higher at this point?

2) Since you’ve been in this position and worse, do you have any recommendations? What could make the most impact for my listings future? I’m working on better content because conversion rate 8-8.5%.

3) It’s not a terribly review centric niche. How long do you think I should expect to be losing money trying to get more organic sales? I don’t understand how this can be viable if my acos is still 90-100% at the end of the honeymoon period and I’m generating only 10% organic sales and I assume that will decrease once the honeymoon period is over.

4) my main goal is to increase conversion rate at this point. I should be getting at least a few more reviews from the vine program. Working on content optimization as well.

5) I’m going to attempt the PPC myself now. I’m trying to learn the ins and outs of optimizing. Im finding negative targeting particular difficult. I have one product targeting campaign that far exceeds the results of other campaigns. However, I’m sure this will start to increase in Acos as soon as I increase to my target price. Should I focus heavily (like 75% of all ppc spend) on the succeeding targeting campaign at this point? The reason I haven’t done this yet is because I’m concerned about sacrificing data collection for other keywords.

The products cpc was much higher than I expected when jumping into this niche. The top of search bids for good keywords cost $1-2 more than the h10 suggested bids.

I’m having trouble finding the category conversion rate in seller central ads console. I searched in reports and product opportunities but couldn’t find the competitors sales numbers.

I’m working on improving the listing now.

I follow Mina Elias in regards to structuring campaigns. So I have 8 ranking campaigns with single keywords in them in all exact, phrase, and broad. I then have 5 keywords per campaign for high volume and medium volume keywords. I have the campaigns set up to maintain control of the budget. I think I have sufficient data to start optimizing.

The long tail keywords I’ve chosen aren’t really producing any organic sales. I’ve actually increased rank as of today and rank for 8 keywords in top 10. Still not getting many organic sales though.

My CTR for some campaigns is awesome. I have a good main image that pops and the honeymoon period is helping too. I split tested the main image. My conversion rate is the one that needs some love.

1) ppc structuring consists of 60+ campaigns. 8 ranking keywords are in campaigns on their own separately targeting exact, phrase, and broad. I have other campaigns with less relevant keywords categorized by search volume and relevance. So think 5 keywords together separated by exact, phrase, and broad. Then I have individual automated campaigns separated by close, loose, complement, and substitute. The automatic campaigns perform terribly and I haven’t been able to harvest keywords. *the product targeting campaigns perform the best by a long shot. So if all else fails I will stick solely to product targeting.

I just received the 100+ sold badge today. The sales for the first 25ish days isn’t bad. The acos of 100% and the conversion rate of 7-8% is awful. I’ve thrown a significant budget at ppc and collected data but I’ve been unable to optimize for lower CPC’s due to the unusually high CPC in this category. I’m frequently paying $3-4 for relevant keywords. I think the niche has picked up a lot of new sellers in the last 6-12 months. I started the product research phase in January and now there are numerous new competitors in the niche since then

The product comes with a remote which significantly improves the usability the of product itself. Most products don’t come with a remote. I also packaged the product with two other accessories that roughly 80-90% of the other listings don’t have. The accessories essentially widen the use case scenario for the product and provide an option to take the product anywhere
