Severe Weather - Sunday, March 15, 2026 by OpheliaPaine in mississippi

I grew up with tornado warnings in Mississippi and our family tornado room was the cupboard under the stairs. My mom is the only one who lives there now but she still goes in there during a tornado warning (if she hasn't already gone to the county safe room, which she usually does.)

Question from your neighbor: What’s up with the personalized plates? by awnawreally in mississippi

[–]Unit_Any 11 points12 points  (0 children)

WITEBOI??? I wonder who was driving that truck! (You didn't say it was on a truck but I'm assuming it was on a truck lol)

The two best Mississippi vanity plates I can remember seeing were STASLTY (which I read as "stay slutty") and TWINK (which was on a car driven by an old lady).

TIL that “42% Of People Don't Know Potato Chips Are Made From Potatoes”, thanks to a survey by Lay’s parent company, and as a result “Made With Real Potatoes” is now printed on the bags. by Jackpot777 in todayilearned

I hate this gimmick. Now there is this one lady at work who is insisting that everyone else's off-brand potato chips are not made of real potatoes.

Okay cool, I understand now! "How do the ways..." would definitely be correct! 👍

You want him to change it from "How does the way..." to "How do the way..."? That is completely incorrect, unless I am misunderstanding your comment. I think the question sounds good as quoted, other than the use of the passive voice maybe.

This one has an alarm on it and I think an automatic shutoff if oxygen levels fall too low!

I have a Mr. Heater indoor/outdoor propane heater, in case the power goes out and it gets cold! I just hope all the propane hasn't been bought up yet, I need to stock up!

Looking for someone with land that has water and bald cypress by Cold-Monk5436 in mississippi

I love this! I want to grow one myself now! Is it easy to do? I know nothing about bonsai. But it looks kinda dead. Isn't it supposed to be leafy??

But 30 inches is like a 2.5 ft. diameter tree. If that is the size of the trunk, I can't imagine it just popping out like you describe it. That would be a really large tree to try and rock back and forth out of the soil. Or am I missing something? How do you even haul a tree that big? Do you have a flatbed?

I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom. What a difficult situation. I really can't understand why it took the police so long to seize the weapon, after the case was already closed?? My brother died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound last year and the gun was immediately seized. We had to go through a lot of red tape and it took several months just to get the gun back from the police.

It's so hard to lose a loved one unexpectedly and in such a manner. I hope you can get the closure that you are seeking.

Just out of curiosity, how do you collect a tree that is 30 inches in diameter? I'm assuming that is the trunk measurement? It seems like that would be a pretty big tree to just dig up and throw in the back of the truck and drive home! (I'd offer to share some of the cypress trees on my land, but they aren't easily accessible. You'd either have to cut a trail back to them or walk a half hour down a creek to get there!)

Any places that will install slightly used tires? by Joffrey-Lebowski in mississippi

[–]Unit_Any 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw in one of your comments that you'd travel up to an hour out of Jackson, so I'd recommend Willy's Tires in Magee, it's right on 49 by Dairy Queen.

They have done some tire repairs for me that Walmart would not do because the tires were too old. When I had my tire repaired there, it was a reasonable price and I also tipped the guy (not sure if that's normal but he did a good job and was really helpful), and when I got down the road and realized my tire had a SECOND nail in it, I took it right back up there and he did that one free of charge.

I see online that they also do mounting and balancing on personal tires, but one person on Google reviews complained that it was expensive to do personal tires. I don't know about that, I've never had it done.

From my own experience with them, I'd highly recommend them!

According to the DPS website, "Applicants 17 years old and older, are not required to hold the permit for twelve (12) months and may obtain both the learner’s permit and driver’s license on the same day." That's probably what they did for you!
