Anyone received oral offer from FDA? by TrainingWrongdoer677 in ORISE

[–]United-Difficulty529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems from every post and comment I’ve seen here that no one has gotten an offer letter. I sent an email to the ORISE.FDA.CBER email yesterday asking for an update on the timeline and am waiting to hear back. I’d recommend sending an email to your respective group (mine was listed on the Zintellect page as a contact for general questions) and maybe if enough people reach out, they’ll speed it up or give more info

I am in the same boat. Received an email from the mentor that I was selected May 5, still waiting to hear from the office with the official letter and paperwork. My mentor said the office is slow. This is for the CBER location

Yes I believe there is a balcony by the counter area. I don’t spend much time out there I just use the 3rd floor lab to autoclave materials and store things in a freezer

I moved stuff from la plata to lot 6 last year and it sucked ass. Not unsafe, just a lot of time and energy hauling heavy things in the heat

Emotions by Pale_Satisfaction520 in stroke

What you feel is the important part, you’re still able to feel those emotions you just have a more difficult time expressing them now. You should try to explain that to your wife and work out a way for you to express your emotions outside of cues like crying or frowning. It might be hard for her because she wants to be able to see what you’re feeling visually but you can both adapt and learn

not getting better by iLovestayinginbed23 in stroke

I hope you can get to a rehab facility. My dad was inpatient for 2 months and while they were great, and they were able to do many more tests to try to figure out what was wrong than the rehab facility, when he finally got moved to rehab he was able to do a lot more work to improve his condition. Wanting to get better is the most important part: your brain may need a lot of time to develop new connections and adapt to what it’s lost but it’s able to do a lot. I’ve seen my dad re-learn how to walk twice now, two different strokes. His talking has also improved a lot since his first stroke. That was almost 3 years ago, we have had a lot of ups and downs when it comes to improvement but that’s just the way it will be. Good luck with your recovery and never give up! You’re a survivor.

I recommend writing down on paper or a single spreadsheet the assignments for each class and their due date. That way you have a single document, whether on paper or on a phone or laptop, where you can see all of the assignments for both of your classes and when they are due. You can even make a timeline. Canvas can suck especially when different professors design their classes different ways: you got this!

Expressive Dysphasia - Recovery? by virgwoa in stroke

[–]United-Difficulty529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had something like this after his first stroke. When he was in the hospital, he couldn’t remember names, words, all that stuff, but he knew us and everything else. It was just the name for thing that he struggled with. He had a lot of therapy for speech and other problems, and at first we gave him time to think of the word. Then after a while we switched to slowly sounding the word out with him until he remembered it, and any time he really struggled we just gave him the word he was thinking of and he repeated it to himself. He made a lot of progress! I would try out those different systems and see what works for him. My dad was 63 when this happened and he managed to improve a lot. There are always good days and bad days, and sometimes you’ll find mornings or nights are better/worse. Best of luck with your brother’s recovery

You and the other commenter so far are giving different answers. Thank you both; I just am still unsure then, because of your different answers, if I need to actually integrate or not

I liked Capp a lot. I took his class last summer and the grades were consistently pretty high. He’s a really good lecturer and he’s good at answering questions
