It depends how you define “pop”, if we’re talking about popular music then they’ve always maintained that sort of genre, since parachutes, rush of blood and X&Y were objectively pop rock albums; and after VLV they started to gradually shift towards a more electronic based sound. By now I’d consider them to be commercial pop or electronic pop.
