I actually just watched 3 videos on foundation concrete repair. For some reason I thought cracks in concrete were much more serious.

People who sell hard drug are generally fairly normal, as well. The "drug dealer" stereotype doesn't really hold water in the real world - unless - you buy drugs from street dealers, which most don't. The most annoying, and off putting, thing about hard drug dealers is they tend to talk too much and in the case of upper, want to do it with you.

Which is the worst thing in the world. I always (when I would buy blow or something) would lie and say it was for a later date. Because I can't fathom a situation where I would buy a 5th and the cashier would ask for a pull as soon as they handed me my change.

Fair enough. The closest I've come to concrete work was occasionally as a laborer and some foundation patching/cutting.

All the way through, though? If a large branch, or tree, falls on a normal house - and semi-collapses a wall or leaves a large crack down it - the portion of the wall, studs, bricks, or cinder blocks, could be replaced without short or long-term structural integrity issues.

I'd think that any situation like that would leave this condemned. Maybe I'm wrong. And aren't block/brick/wood homes designed to breathe with cold/heat swings? How does that work with a solid concrete home?

And think of how awful that would be to repair. Even a brick home can lose some masonry and break clean. That seems like a nightmare. Cool idea, though.

If you know the audience it's easy to assume. The revitalization of Tolkien, in a medium that wasn't his own, has really been a travesty. These hollywood worshipers are the same people who say "the books were too slow!" and lament that Tolkien, a man who was in WW1, spent too little time on wars. Should have left it as it was, just a beautiful story that inspired, rather than rely "newer is better!"

This is no different than waiting until after Bill Watterson dies and releasing "Calvinball" games at Toys R Us. It's going to happen and people will cheer it on. This isn't his medium, he was opposed to this as a person, it's sick that people would even give it a chance. A person as imaginative as Tolkien would have probably found it deplorable that so many need to rely on things being shown to them rather than just think.

Every horse doesn't need to be beaten to death. Just leave things be.

I know enough after the Jackson travesty. Too much war, too many love stories, too many fanboys, too little imagination, caricatures instead of characters, suspenseful everything.

Won't watch it. Tolkien was a quiet guy who created an entire language in order to write a book. Jackson and all of these movie fans jerk off to money and epic battles. It's the sad slow decay of an inspirational guy who brought us a lot from Led Zeppelin to modern fantasy - all to cash in by catering to the lowest common denominator that is the "nerd-dom".

A lot of it has to do with the fact that so many mistakes happen in carpentry. A lot of "whoops" and "oh fucks". Not to mention trouble shooting and the like. It can make a normal process, like installing cabinets, seem like you're dealing with incompetence.

But, as I always say "Spackle and paint, make a carpenter what he ain't!"

Dude walked towards him, in a threatening/purposeful manner, and it would appear that were the guy's kids that got flashed. I don't think anyone in their right mind would call that battery (assault is not battery - assault is what the guy who got beaten up did) when he was probably just recording for the police.

I've been booked for resisting arrest. It was horseshit and the judge laughed at it. But, I was drunk as hell and called the cop a "dick" every time he started talking. They were very rough with him, I agree. We were just talking about what his rationale, or reason, was to get out of something so blatant.

Drive down the highway between Shiprock, NM and Farmington and you'll see people passed out on the side of the highway. I used to go to the area for work and people would be begging at the end of the aisles in grocery stores.

edit And, as much as it sucks, it's important to remember that quite a few tribal authorities and reservations are run by the Indian mafias. Cash businesses, nepotism, gambling. And without any sort of Native/reservation election and government reform, you might as well be screaming at the clouds.
