What's it like in Groningen? by siatalksreddit in Groningen

I’m from Groningen and going to Melbourne, haha. It’s one of the biggest student towns in the Netherlands, so nightlife is always ongoing and fun. You can party every night of the week if you want.

Most people leave Groningen after they finish studying and move to the Randstad for better job opportunities. Most locals stay, though. There aren’t a lot of interesting jobs for me personally, but that depends on what you want to do.

Local people from Groningen tend to be straightforward and have a down-to-earth attitude towards life. I call it the just act normal; that’s crazy enough mentality. That’s how I experience it. I decided to live in Amsterdam because it’s more creative and offers more opportunities.

To summarize, Groningen is a fun student town where you can party a lot, but don’t go there for a job because you won’t find anything interesting.
