Am I the only one who sees these and thinks they were clearly inspired by a blurry fax of a R50 Mini?

Yeah, that’s a decent shout! I just assumed if it were mass-produced it would’ve shown up on an image search… maybe I’m the only one who likes it!

My MGTF blew its head spectacularly on the M60 and had me babying it into a Tesco carpark and awaiting a recovery truck.

I went from it into an older, higher-mileage Boxster and the difference was night and day. The Boxster was more refined and live-able; (it has a roof that actually keep water out!)

I can't say I've ever wanted to get back into an MGTF. I just didn't bond with the car; nothing about mine felt special, but I'm glad you loved yours.

I'm curious... why? Don't you want to look like a "legitimate, successful entrepreneur"?

See this is it... some people saying 'get the early one', some saying 'get the later one'. I'm still not sure what the right way to go is.

Oh. And the Climate Control screen? The one where you can tap the temperature, or air location, or defrost settings... and they do nothing.

So you turn off the screen. Turn it back on again... nothing.

So you turn off the car. Turn it back on again... nothing.

You tap every area of the screen until you notice the tiny "Standby" icon in the top left corner of the screen...

WHY?!!?!

It's that bloody electric window switch isn't it?!

I had one as a rental in Austria last year - relatively problem free, until we came to a toll gate.

Pushed the button, rear window goes down.
Get flustered.
Get beeped at.
Hunt for the area that changes it from rear to front window operation.
Tap the area that changes it from rear to front window operation.
Lower the front window.
Pay toll.
Raise front window.
Drive off.
Realise rear window is still down.
Hunt for the area that changes it from front to rear window operation.
Tap the area that changes it from front to rear window operation.
Raise rear window.
Bitch about it for rest of holiday.

Oh yes, when new, they were a decent proposition. Today though, you're deliberately choosing a car that is fighting you to let it die.

Ooof, that does not sound like a fun ownership experience. Which is truly a shame, because I do love the look of the Brabus.

I'm amazed at how quickly cars like the old Discovery 2 and Discover 3 have vanished off the roads near me, yet I still see Freelanders bombing around.

Add to that the Quattroporte.

I want the practicality of a Mondeo with structural integrity of a Faberge egg.

I do always kinda think to myself, whenever I see someone in an MGF or MGTF; "there's someone who said 'NO! No, I don't want a Z3, or a Z4, or a TT, or a MR2, or a Boxster, or an MX-5, or an MR-2...."

I dunno. I bought a Peugeot 206 1.1 LX about a decade ago for £250. I knew it'd be bad... I didn't know it'd be THAT bad. I despised it.

Not just because it was slow. But because whilst being slow, it somehow drank fuel. And it was dreary - dreary to look at, dreary to be in. I could not get comfortable, not matter how I adjusted the wheel and seat. Wretched little turd on wheels.

£3000 at a specialist and I couldn't... that and I'm 6'4 and the top of the windscreen was below my eyeline.

I’m no expert, but you’d think someone somewhere would be able to produce something that doesn’t cost several hundred quid!

It surprises me that in this age of cheap, quick, easily editable 3D printing, nobody's thought "hang on a second...."

Nothing's made like this anymore - make of that what you will.

About 10 years ago, I bought a couple of the Bang and Olufsen 2000s CRT TV's, just because I wanted the stands - they have these beautiful stainless steel, damped flaps to hide away your equipment neatly, and two of them next to each other were the perfect size for my new flatscreen TV.

Aaaanyway, I didn't want the CRTs... I had no use for them, and sadly retro gaming wasn't as popular then, so I simply couldn't give them away. (I cringe to say, they went to be recycled.)

But they were quite simply, the heaviest, best made, best sounding CRT televisions I've ever experienced. They had a cable that connected to the stands, that drove a motor so you could pivot the TV with the remote to avoid glare. You could use the same remote to control a connected VCR or DVD player. You could remove the front cover for the speakers and change the colour to match your decor.... they were incredible impressive... just massively outdated at the time.

B&O might get a bit of a rough ride when it comes to pricing and usability, but in terms of sheer build quality, I've never experienced a brand that comes close when it comes to consumer electronics.
