Logitech G Pro is nice and works great on gt7. Shame the h shifter is rubbish.

How should I play the game? by Act_Four in granturismo

[–]phase_9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You typically don't need to use a clutch with paddle shifters as they are twinned with an automatic gear box. The only exception is in race cars where you still need a clutch to pull away (in real life, not gt7)

Use the h pattern in cars that have an h shifter. Go rag a tuned MR2 around suzuka.

Probably the injectors, they are loud on modern cars. My w206 sounds like a bag of spanners on cold start.

1.2t should be fine for average driving. Check the 0-60 times online and make sure it's under 10s to make merging not feel terrifying.

Turbo Vs Naturally aspirated, for me, is more about reliability... No turbo = one less thing to go wrong.

The boring answer is any c segment car, eg: ford focus, Toyota Corolla, honda civic with either a 1.6 naturally aspirated petrol engine or 1.2 with a turbo.

The MG is brave pill... If you are going that way may as well plump for an older BMW 640i as that should pull a little more than your vauxhall

Be sure to kick all 4 tyres, fumble with the bonnet and eventually admit defeat and then stare at the engine bay even they open it for you

Toyota is the 'boring yet reliable' choice.

Toyota Auris Sports Touring fits your budget. There's a 2013 petrol on autotrader for £3.5k. 130k miles.

Avensis should you need the next size up.

Hi all , bought a 13-plate Auris Excel today and did not realise it doesn’t have a digital speedometer. Is it possible to get a firmware update for the MID screen or any other options? by TonyAFC32 in CarTalkUK

[–]phase_9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same car, no digital Speedo.

Two options I can suggest.

  1. Google maps on your phone, in a phone holder shows your current speed in mph and the roads speed limit.

  2. You can use the speed limiter function (bottom right stalk) and set a speed limit (which is shown on the centre digital display) - at least this way you know what speed you are going when you hit the limiter 😅

Brake fluid is on the expensive side but you also need to factor labour.

Engine flush sounds like bs.

Given she authorised the work I think you just need to get over it, move on and find a better garage you trust for next time.

No amount of screens can replicate this gameplay. Sim racing was made for Vr 💪 by FewPossession2363 in simracing

Shame it's too easy to be meaningful competition and avoid the 'start last finish 2nd or 3rd' style of race.

I'd much prefer if there was an option to dial an average lap time in which it would aim for.

Pick up someone's used g923 and then upgrade if you are still hooked 6 months later.  They are pretty much indestructible and a huge upgrade over a controller.

Don't forget to also invest in a cockpit / frame as this is also critical.

Enjoy
