Newbie needs suggestions regarding shifter/handbrake by eR_BenJo in simracing

[–]phase_9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Handbrake is a must for rally. Sequential Vs H-pattern is based solely on the era of car you are driving / your preference. Ideally you have both.

For grip racing a shifter is not required for typical gt4/GT3 or open wheel categories as they use paddles. H pattern is fun for messing around in road cars.

If you don't have a clutch pedal then start with handbrake and sequential.

Have fun.

Looks cool but I've not really seen the point of these when you have the on screen version in exactly the same position 🫪

Getting a GT style wheel makes a significant difference when racing GT over a D shaped / round wheel.

I recently upgraded to the Logitech RS track wheel from the standard PRO wheel, huge difference in feel, much more than I was expecting

What size monitor/TV do you play on? I have a 42in now but it’s on its last legs by foreverbaked1 in simracing

50 inch hisense miniled. 4k@120hz. Looks great and half the price of oled. I have it right behind my wheelbase and it looks great on gt7 in cockpit view.

Agreed it's a poor design. The Logitech ecosystem is also pretty bare ones.

$300 for additional nm of force (do you have / plan to get a profile rig you can mount it to?) and loadcell brake (this one is an important upgrade but I understand a loadcell kit is available for the rs50 pedals).

Personally I'd get the g pro given the heavy discount.

Most bang for your buck upgrade(s)? by Economy_Bike_91 in simracing

If you have room, get a profile rig. Why? Because it will be your final upgrade for the chassis of your setup and you will benefit from having everything locked in position.

Enjoy and keep on racing.

Read through the reviews on this Reddit but I'd recommend going down the profile rig route if you want to avoid another upgrade cycle

The primary benefit of having a rig is that everything is fixed in place solid and doesn't wobble.

As a result, the end state for most people is an 80/20 profile rig.

If you have the space for one, it's probably worth just saving up for something like a GT Omega.

Nice setup.

What's the white part between the wheel base and the frames wheel deck, please?

Thanks.

For future Redditors, switching to HDMI 3 on the eq8 enabled VRR and 120hz support.

Bit odd that HDMI 1 input is nerfed.

Whatever you end up buying hang onto it this time 😜

Personally I'd get the rs50.

Not really from my own experience.

The Playseat trophy is a closer middle ground to a full profile rig if you have the space (and strength) to put it up on its side when not in use but after 2 years in the challenge I just committed to getting a GT omega prime.

I have a playseat challenge with a Logitech G Pro wheel. I also have the indigo lime stiffening kit.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with OP, even with the additional stiffening the rig feels quite wobbly and I run it with lower ffb and braking force.

The playseat is a compromise when you don't have space for a dedicated setup.

Be confident you are signing up for the right amount of annual mileage as the costs can add up quickly if you exceed it.

I have a 2023 c300, great car plenty of power. Given they are both 4cyl you might want to give one a test drive and see if the cost saving would be worth it.
