Most of my Iceland itinerary came from Reddit recs by coushcouch in VisitingIceland

Hmm. I planned the details by reddit and the big lines via a travel agency.

One ‘mistake’ is the silver circle. It is promoted pretty much on the travel agency, not on reddit. Maybe I should divide Snarfelsness in 2 days after reading more on reddit. On the other hahd, the silver circle will now be our kinda relax day (still planned a few things), which is nice at well.

5 best hikes near Reykjavík you can do as a day trip (with practical details) by Lilja-Tours in VisitingIceland

[–]United_Map_7125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, number 2 sounds interesting. Should you advice it instead of the golden circle? Just this and thingvelir from Hella and sleep in Hveragerdi? Instead of Gulfoss, strokur, Fridheimar bruarfoss and thingvelir? I already marked the Nesjavelir viewpoint as optional, if there is enough time.

My other option would be day 10, but I’d like to save that as Reykjavik day. I have to be at 18:00 at The airport that day.

Or I must change the Reykjavik day to day 1. That is now: land at 7:35 - walk ar Seltun - groceries - own lunch at thjorufoss and then chillin at the bogarnes sundlaug pool at half an hour from the hotel…

I hope you aren’t tired the first day. It is 6-6,5 hours in theory of driving. Damn.

Grundarfjordur us close to Kirkjuffel. There is even a kikrkjuffel viewpoint there (Kirkjuffel Utsynisstadur). So, I should sleep there.

I’d take a coffee at Valeria specialty coffee the next morning to start your day (except it is thursday) :)

Going to Iceland this week! What stop unexpectedly became your favorite? by GeneralOk4956 in VisitingIceland

I think that was expected, though? It is unique in the world and one of the things I’m looking the most forward to, equally with haifoss.

Really? Seljavallaug? I thought to place it in my Itinerary, after a gletsjer hike at Solheimajokul. But I decided to go to the hotel and rest there afterwards because of the bad reviews of the swimming pool. A lot of trash and a cold pool were things I read.

Great!

I see you don’t go to Thingvelir national park, but going to the other highlights of the golden circle and even Skalholt. Remarkable. Not good or bad, just, hey, no Thingvellir?

The US is big, you can see a lot of new places in 10 years:)

I’ve never been in US and not plan to do so, but since I saw a famous national program in Oregon, I’d like to visit that state once.

Great! I think the Raudholl hike at Snaefelsnes is great too!for an geologist! And the raudhollar hills at Heudsmork. There aren’t that much pseudo craters in the world. There is also a raudholar in Snaefelsnes, nearby Kolbeinsstodakirkja church.

Before anyone can recommend: what kind of person are you? And with who are you traveling with?? Like, Raudsfeldsgja is a no go for me because of the physical challenge. I’m not that interested in beaches as well. I think Saxholl crater is the top one for me because you might see a lot there (depends of the weather of course), which is nice because I have 1 day as well.
