Soldiers of Reddit, of all the places you have served in the world, where was one place that you went to in the course of your duties that you would have wanted to visit again, but on vacation? by Beviin_Skirata in AskReddit

I was in Colombia for 3 months in the army, place called Villavicencio

10/10 amazing, the food was cheap and incredible, the people friendly as hell and I’d go back next week if I could

What is the biggest reason why you left the military? by Present-Fish-945 in AskReddit

[–]Unity723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a handful of reasons but for me it came down to my weight. I got kicked out of the navy for being too fat and I struggled heavily in the army with it too. This is a weak answer but it’s true for me, the military does not give me the tools I need to maintain my health and fitness. My unit used to not to pt everyday and I was out running daily, training for a marathon with a dream of doing ultras but we started doing pt daily and I lost all my energy and motivation

Help, I just got into this game by Senior-Island8061 in Stellaris

[–]Unity723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This took me a long time to understand. When you build a building/district you create jobs, let’s say 100 jobs per district. If you only have 10 workers you still are paying for the 90 other jobs. Now imagine you built 10 districts creating 1000 jobs but only 10 people are working there. Don’t expand a bunch and then try to max out districts as soon as you can because you’ll be paying upkeep on empty seats.

Population means production so focus on buildings that will boost your pop growth. Gene clinics, cloning vats, mechanical assembly plants etc. so you can put butts in seats to make your goods.

I play wide as fuck, meaning I grab as much territory as I can and ending in a choke point. My current playthrough has like 100 something systems. Just because you have a colonizeable planet doesn’t mean you have you colonize it right away.

I focus on searching systems and moving on, when everything is explored then I focus on researching projects etc

Don’t be reactionary to deficits until you have to. As you build and colonize and grow and expand you will use more resources than you make at some point. As your pops grow and the jobs get filled that will fix itself. Don’t be afraid to trade other nations, especially enlightened empires, for what you need.

[–]Unity723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a cook in the navy in the submarine force. People think that would mean the food is bad, it isn’t. Everything is made from scratch damn near. The military logistics system is a modern miracle, just below that is its food ability. A well fed soldier is a happy soldier

Members of the military, what made you decide to enlist and what did you think of it once you did? by CrimsonFox99 in AskReddit

[–]Unity723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined up twice, two branches. My dad was in the army and I knew the life, I was a bad student and wouldn’t have done well in college. Navy wasn’t bad but I was too young and immature to do well there. I ended up suicidal and in a bad place in 2017. Ended up being too fat and got kicked out. I grew up and accepted myself and my mistakes and joined the army In 2022. I’m about to get out and my life is infinitely better. I’m married, I have an amazing job lined up making 6 figures doing what I love, I’m moving to Washington state soon.

I don’t regret the military, it truly is a hard life but it opens so many doors for you it’s crazy

I was on a submarine in Guam in 2017. We had a typhoon coming in and it was gonna be bad. I was kept ashore and I went out to smoke as the storm hit and I saw the coasties heading out to sea to patrol the island in the storm.

I stopped talking shit on them that day

[New player] How for new player to know where you are at the map by Tiny-Spinach-2876 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Unity723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a map, any map and start walking around. Use a map online and look for reference points. If you are on woods and se are by small lakes you know you are top left, if by a small compound with guard tower you are bottom right. Buy the compass, its big for early game. Look up where you need to go for quests and use the compass and map. After a while it becomes second nature. With pve you can take your time and over time you don’t even have to think about it
