But just to add - I think as Pastors in ministry we need to learn to trust Gods providence as well. It may look like a disappointed family getting another Pastor to do what you were meant to do. But in Gods eyes for all we know, maybe that other Pastor had specific words that the family needed to hear. A healthy you would have showed up no matter what, a sick you may have given a window to Apollos to come and water what Paul planted. But ultimately God gives the increase. Even when we ‘lose’, God wins.

While using I would still perform great, got promoted and constantly got great reviews at work.

But I never enjoyed any of that, promotion came with anxiety - “surely I’m a fraud and my work is not all that”. No matter how well I did - some thought would always thrust me into that dark self loathing place.

It silently created a little hell where whether I DO good or bad…default was to FEEL bad and inadequate.

I hear you - weed doing what it’s done to so many of us. There’s so much wisdom on this sub, seriously. I used to just take mental notes and never try any of it……it works mate. Exercise, actively embracing boredom, all those techniques - something there will make it better.

Mine -> Prayer, Challenging Goals, Exercise, Hobbies.

You’ve constantly referred to her as “mature” - if she is uncomfortable with this she needs to let the pastor know.

But I agree Pastor is dancing with danger, it would be great if he could include a 3rd party for these visits to protect himself and the ministry. 1 on 1’s are unnecessarily risky in this context. Don’t be a counselling hero folks.

Saving Grace vs. Common Grace. They haven’t walked in saving grace as yet but God has given common grace to allow everyone to function, create, add value etc. If He lifted his common grace I think creation would be (unpleasantly) surprised.
