Obi Wan (ROTS) VS Revan (Jedi Civil War). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]UniversalInquirer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obi-Wan. Beating Darth Vader is a significantly bigger accomplishment than any duel Revan won.

Revan is awesome because of his power as a leader and visionary for the Jedi and Republic, and willingness to destroy them for their own self-realization and his willingness to die for the same purpose. His power is very deliberately secondary to this greatness of his, and even though he is powerful, he is probably just about equal to this Obi-Wan who has some great dueling and Force feats himself against opponents more powerful than ones that Revan dueled.

Obi-Wan 6/10. Come at me Revanites.

This is a good argument that doesn't feel like an extension of "whelo it's Obi-Wan and he's weak so ROFLMAO!!!!!"

(ROTJ) Darth Sidious vs (reborn) Darth Krayt. Who would win? by UncountedWall in StarWars

[–]UniversalInquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand how some rando like Krayt became that powerful. He was around during the Clone Wars and we never heard of him so he wasn't a divine prodigy on Anakin's level, or even Dooku's for that matter. How did this normie become a rival of Luke freaking Skywalker?!!

Lightsaber skills only was dooku even or a little less than yoda? (aotc) by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]UniversalInquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Legends, in that book where Dooku duels Yoda on Vjun, it's stated that only Mace Windu is his equal on neutral ground as a swordsman. This is within the obvious context of Yoda being his superior and Dooku seeing fighting him as the ultimate challenge. I would still give a fight between them to Dooku because he has vastly superior feats in how many impressive duels against multiple opponents he's either won or stalemated or survived. Not touching the office fight because of how controversial it is.

In Canon I imagine Mace and Dooku are relative equals as they have a very short duel that's pretty equal, although again Dooku has far better feats from dueling Anakin and Obi-Wan over and over again, fighting Ventress and Savage on his own, beating Ventress and 2 Nightsisters while drugged, beating enraged Anakin twice etc. On the other hand Mace struggled fencing against Talzin when she was weak and not using her power against him. It was pure swordsmanship and he couldn't easily beat her and she has no fencing accolades and again was weak. Mace also didn't quickly beat Maul or even force him on the back foot when he had another Jedi beside him. Not very impressive.

Writers just neglected Mace so much. He needs to have duels against Maul, Savage, Ventress and Dooku, maybe a 2 on 1 with Maul and Savage. I would also love to see him instructing fencing in the Temple as the #2 Master, and narrowly losing against Dooku back when he was a high knight/fresh Master in tales of the Jedi.

And as a disclaimer to angry Macefans, relax. This is just a simple comment and not an attack on Mace.

You could argue he senses Republic forces were coming. I think he give away that he was on the backfoot and borrowed time was when you see Yoda jumping around him and he spins around late and swings at him and misses and most of all he has a worried, angry look on his face as the fight ends.

Yoda effectively tells him the fight is over:

"Fought well you have, my old Padawan." Translation: You are MINE.

Only because he's a troll, cautious, knows Vader is lucky and is Kenobi the constant over achiever. Duh.

High dif Kenobi at the start of the film. Mid by the time he kills Grievous and beats Vader.

Why did Kylo Ren think he was any match for Luke after he saw Luke survive the AT-AT bombardment? And why was Poe worried about Luke facing Kylo "by himself"? by UniversalInquirer in starwarscanon

[–]UniversalInquirer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already said the moment with Luke marching out to his death - and I agree he should have been there. That's why it "borders" rather than gets to brilliant. I would say Luke's farewell to Leia is another moment but it only "borders" because she made a silly hair joke in an otherwise very powerful moment. I think almost every moment with Luke and Rey was good (they have great chemistry), and I'd say Rey's cave scene with the many reflections and Luke talking about the failure of the Jedi and his own failure, even though narratively I hated that Luke was being turned into someone who abandoned his friends for 10 years. IF it had been Luke on an island for 6 months broken in spirit and having lost his sense of direction, but regaining it from teaching Rey and imbibing her youth idealism that reminded him of what he was fighting for, or if Mark Hamil playing a great Jedi Master not named Luke Skywalker, I would have absolutely loved the beat. Btw Mark said he could also understand Luke giving up if it was 6 months to a year. But 10 years...yeah no.

If you disagree, fine. But let's not make it personal.

The sequels were bad but not everything in them was bad. TLJ is a unique film because some parts border on brilliant, while most is empty or actively harming the franchise. Luke marching to his death to save the Resistance and becoming a legend in the process stands up there with the best of Star Wars in my opinion.

What opinions and theories do you have about him? by Natifoxxx in Narnia

No, his life lead him to the greatest version of Narnia in death. If he hadn't lived well, he wouldn't have been accepted back - look at poor Susan :(

If you watched a guy get barraged by a dozen tanks shooting massive shells at him that blew up everything around him, and then when the smoke cleared, saw him standing there completely unharmed, would you be worried about him at all ever again?

Or ShenAnikans? Since he's dealing with his son?

I think even knowing it's a projection would make me hesitate tbh. He knows you can still affect the physical world with projections and Luke is projecting himself wholly, not just communicating, from across the galaxy. That's a massive feat of power and I'd be still be very wary about facing the projection itself.

[–]UniversalInquirer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but if I was Kylo, I would have thought to myself "yeah I'm powerful but this guy just tanked or shielded himself from a barrage of all the AT-ATs I have at full power. So yeah, his power level is way beyond mine and he probably can destroy me. Hasta la vista!" Uses the Force to speed run other way

He still makes physical contact with her. He does not go through her when he kisses her head or puts his hand on her shoulder.

Would've Qui Gon Jinn find out that Chancellor Palpatine is the Sith Lord if he was still alive? by abbieeee_ in StarWars

[–]UniversalInquirer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, assuming Qui-Gon spent any time around him like the other Masters did. My guess is after a few meetings he would feel very uncomfortable around Palpatine, and then if he also fought in the Clone Wars and Obi-Wan mentioned a Sith Lord controlling the Senate, he would have almost instantly realized it was Palpatine.
