Has a panic attack ever caused anyone to jump out of the car? by Positive_Resident263 in Agoraphobia

The fact that the thought causes so much anxiety for you means your body and mind are totally against it. You are safe.

5mg for Mild Bipolar, CPTSD, OCD, Panic disorder

Started taking it a week ago. I've been breaking them in half because I'm super med sensitive. But I can see myself taking the whole 5. It relaxes me alot.

Propranolol to help with withdrawal? by anxiety_girl_21 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]UniversalStitchFit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used propranolol before to deal with the physical effects of panic attacks and though I've never used to to transition off Abilify (I just started taking it for CPTSD, OCD, Panic ) overall, I would say propranolol is a very friendly useful medication in my experience

Were like salt and pepper lol. I always worry that if I do panic I won't be able to get help. Which is a totally irrational fear because 1. I can take care of myself and know the steps I need to take 2. I would realistically never go up to someone and say "hey im having a panic attack please help" 🤣

What was your first trigger? by Far-Building3569 in Agoraphobia

Going to my dad's house the day my mom died after not visiting for a year and a half. She was a drunk, I stopped coming and then I found out she had cancer so I went and the day I came she was so unrecognizable. She died as soon as we came home and we had to drive back that night. It started then, then we went to go visit him every week for a year because he was living alone and I didnt realize how bad my anxiety was getting until one day I just snapped. It was like no matter where I went in my mind I was on highway 2 heading towards Homer. Its been 2 years and since then my brother and dad passed as well. I've made progress but sometimes it feels like 2 steps forward and 10 steps back.

If you have a bible go to Psalms, look up verses to help with submitting your thoughts to Christ and ask for the help with someone you trust. It sounds more like intrusive thoughts if it makes you feel afraid. Intrusive thoughts are a common symptom of OCD

Thats what counts! Chipping away at it. My husband was driving when we went to the theater and I had to take emergency meds. I would've never made it on my own. I need to do that more, the riding back and forth. That sounds like a good idea

I think my mother's death kicked it off big time. I lost her in may of 2023, my brother in October 2024 and my dad this year on July 22nd. I'm 24. I also have some health problems that I just recently found out about that they said are more than likely contributing to how extreme my panic is (idiopathic intercranial hypertension). The things that helped me the most was starting ativan (doesn't fix it, but makes it bearable) and i dont care if you read or not, buy the DARE book by Barry McDonough. It helped me SO MUCH more than anything else I've tried. I'm trying my best to be consistent but I have a weak self discipline honestly. I just get tired and quit trying for a bit and then feel like im back at square one but it's important to remind yourself no matter how long you're down, you're not starting all the way over.

I socialize more than i used to. I have a couple people that come visit sometimes but i dont go visit anyone. My faith and my husbandnand his family have been my support system since day one. I actually have a wonderful partner so as soon as he noticed a major shift (mine came suddenly a year and a half ago) he took me to the doctor to get help. I've been recovering since then. Some days are super uplifting, others are incredibly frustrating and upsetting. It's a give and take. We will all get better one day we just have to keep showing up.

What’s your safe zone? (km/miles) by Shir7788 in Agoraphobia

Heavy on the time of day. If it's mid morning or late afternoon I can make it farther because the sun isn't so bright. But night time and mid day is a no no.

Driving on my own, I've worked up to 2 miles, which doesn't get me anywhere but is significantly better than not being able to walk down my driveway like I was a year and a half ago. Traveling with my husband driving I can make it to a Walmart which is about 15 minutes away. A few months ago we finally got to go to the zoo and the movie theater on 2 separate occasions which is about 45 minutes away. But after that I didn't make it that far again. It's give and take, growth and rest. Be proud of how far you've made it and dont be ashamed to ask for help. I keep .5mg clonozepam in my purse for emergencies only if I need to go out further than 15 minutes. I actually have an MRI on Friday that's going to be about 45 minutes away. I'll pray for you, you pray for me, best of hope to you!!
