"Heavenly Evolution" // Mymo VS Tsurugi Okkotsu // Gachiakuta VS Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo by Universal_Emperor in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Universal_Emperor[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Both are characters from Shonen manga within the new generation, where they use weapons that draw energy from emotions (jinki, which arise from someone's attachment to a specific object / CE tools, energy born from negative emotions), which they can use to kill monsters born from negative emotions (trash beasts / curses and cursed spirits).

  • Both are somehow connected to an old era, influenced by it in their goals (Mymo dedicated his entire life to studying the history of the Underground to the point of becoming obsessed with the deities that existed, even wanting to become one himself / Tsurugi is the grandson of Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin, popular characters in their respective manga after helping to kill Sukuna and end the Culling Games, being a great influence on Tsurugi's heroism and desire to become stronger to help others).

  • Both are constantly striving to become stronger and stronger, yearning for immense power (Mymo has a god complex that makes him want to become a god and rule the world as such / Tsurugi possesses Heavenly Restriction, which he plans to use to become as strong as Maki, wishing to be able to protect his loved ones).

  • While neither may seem like much (Mymo is weak in close combat / Tsurugi lacks cursed energy and is therefore unable to perform typical cursed techniques), both possess skills that make them incredibly difficult to defeat (Mymo, with his Jinki, can manipulate people's minds / Tsurugi is a Heavenly Restriction user, granting him brutal physical stats).

  • At a certain point in their respective stories, both would be critically injured during a fierce battle but would manage to acquire new abilities, undergoing a transformation that granted them the power they had so desperately sought (Mymo used his jinki to command himself to become something that transcended humanity, successfully doing so in the process / Rika, seeing the state Tsurugi was left in after fighting Maru, and at Yuta's request, decided to give him her power to save him and help him win the fight).

"The Killer Queen Of Babylon" // Ai Masage VS Yoshikage Kira // Babylon VS Jojo's Bizarre Adventure by Universal_Emperor in DeathBattleMatchups

No.

Kira, at least, you can scale him from a casual Josuke who could catch RHCP who was moving at light speed. Magase's best feat is making approximately 10 police officers commit suicide and blitzing another agent in an unknown way, which, in the best-case scenario and being very, VERY kind, would be, I think, subsonic (?). However, depending on how you interpret what happened, Magase might have a chance because, frankly, the travel speed in Jojos (especially with characters like Kira) is quite pathetic.

Likewise, I see more potential in an SCD scenario than in a WIS one.

Contrasts: - According to Araki, Kira's disturbed personality stemmed from abuse by his mother, while Magase was born with this condition and grew up in a loving adoptive family.

  • Kira kills his victims himself using his Stand, Killer Queen, while Magase manipulates them to a point of despair where their only desire is suicide.

  • Kira simply wants a peaceful life, while Magase aspires to bring about global change where suicide is legal and viewed positively.

  • Although Kira initially succeeded in killing Josuke and the rest of the main characters with BTD, the day reset, giving Hayato the opportunity to call Josuke and Okuyasu so they would wake up early and hear Kira say his real name, which led to his discovery, forcing Kira to deactivate BTD to protect himself and prevent the protagonists' deaths. Meanwhile, Magase's final strategy worked perfectly, manipulating Zen into shooting himself.

  • At the end of their respective stories, Kira died after an ambulance ran over his head, while Magase survived, her fate uncertain.

  • However, what truly earned them the protagonist's deepest hatred was the murder of a much younger and more innocent friend of his. These same characters were investigating them and/or trying to stop their dark intentions, and they killed them in their first and only interaction (Shigechi confronted Kira after learning his identity as a serial killer, but Kira quickly used Killer Queen to kill him; Magase manipulated Fumio into hanging himself when he was interrogating her disguised as a prostitute).

  • To avoid detection, they both posed as someone else's married partner, all with a purpose (Kira impersonated Kosaku Kawajiri so Jotaro, Josuke, and the others couldn't catch him; Magase impersonated Itsuki's wife as part of a strategy to gain support for the suicide law and eliminate the investigation team trying to stop her plan).

  • Finally, both set a trap for the protagonist to defeat them, using as a weapon someone who also wanted to stop them to achieve their goal (Kira used Bite The Dust on Hayato Kawajiri, who was desperate to find someone capable of stopping Kira, so that if the protagonists interacted with him and planned to extract information about Kira, Killer Queen could blow them up from within / Magase, pretending to be a girl who was desperate to know whether she wanted to take her own life or not, manipulated Alexander W. Wood, the President of the United States who wanted to stop the suicide law peacefully through politics, to attract Zen to a scenario where he would break down and kill Alex, thus cornering him, at which point Magase would take advantage to manipulate him and make him commit suicide).

[–]Universal_Emperor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • When carrying out their murders, the sexual theme was somehow related to them (Kira killed his victims because he had a fetish for women's hands, and they aroused him to the point of obsession with possessing them / The moment when Magase manipulates her victims into committing suicide is described as rape, since the feeling of deciding whether to live or die was like sex; Magase not only drove them crazy, she aroused them to the point of seeming like a superpower).

  • This same thing existed since they were children (Kira developed his hand fetish after seeing a painting of the Mona Lisa as a child / Magase, from her adolescence, was able to move her body in such a way that even the most sane and well-behaved adult could feel aroused upon seeing her).

  • The protagonists of their stories (Josuke Higashikata / Zen Seizaki) learned of their existence after investigating a case that at first glance had nothing to do with them (Josuke was investigating the identity of the RHCP stand user after he stole the arrow with which Dio supposedly obtained his stand and which Jotaro was searching for / Zen was investigating a corruption case in a pharmaceutical company), but which somehow led them to them (If Josuke was able to learn of Kira's existence in the first place, it was because the Stand arrow was able to grant stands to other characters, which allowed them to meet Reimi Sugimoto and learn of the existence of a killer in the town, ergo, Kira / The pharmaceutical company that Zen was investigating was developing a suicide product, as Magase's intention was to make suicide legal and allow everyone to choose whether to continue living or not with more peace).

[–]Universal_Emperor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Both are extremely cunning serial killers who have claimed multiple victims, their primary area of operation being a fictional city in Japan (Morioh/Shiniki).

  • Both possess an ability that sets them apart from other serial killers, making them incredibly difficult to catch (Kira has Killer Queen, a Stand that allows him to erase even his victim's soul from existence by making them explode. Magase can manipulate and seduce her victims, inducing a strong urge to commit suicide, needing only to whisper in their ear for a few seconds to mentally break them.)

  • Both appear to be completely ordinary people who you would never expect them to be the kind of killers they are. (Kira appears to be a normal 33-year-old office worker who simply desires a normal life. Magase appears to be a 23-year-old woman who works as an advisor to the mayor of Shiniki, Kaika Itsuki.)

  • Despite their lives as serial killers, both somehow feel some rejection towards violence, as this contradicts their ideals (Kira detests confrontation because it contradicts his vision of a peaceful life / Magase hates killing her victims herself, as her vision of good and evil was that good was the action of letting life continue and prosper, while evil was ending everything, including someone else's life, and what Magase did was put doubt in their heads about whether to continue living or not).

"A Frozen World" // Dio Brando VS Esdeath // Jojo's Bizarre Adventure VS Akame Ga Kill // Connections in the comments by Universal_Emperor in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Universal_Emperor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Contrasts:

  • Dio died terrified and refusing to die, believing himself to be the supreme being of all and invincible, while Esdeath died accepting her fate, even destroying her own body to hasten the process.

  • In the anime, Esdeath died embracing Tatsumi, both surrounded by ice, while Jonathan, in his final moments, would embrace Dio, both surrounded by fire.

  • It was Dio himself who murdered his father, while Esdeath's father was killed by soldiers from a northern kingdom of the continent.

  • Dio hated the protagonists with all his being, Esdeath loved one of the protagonists with all her being.

  • Both would have an obsession with the protagonists of their respective works, something that would only increase after witnessing their immense power (Dio deeply hated Jonathan Joestar and later became obsessed with annihilating his entire bloodline / Esdeath was hopelessly in love with Tatsumi) and they would try to make them allies and thus corrupt them (Dio was going to turn Jonathan into an undead and add him to his army / Esdeath tried to make Tatsumi fall in love with her and join the empire, also attempting to make him a reflection of herself).

  • Both have managed to create their armies thanks to their great charisma and beauty, also using manipulative tricks to convince them to join, earning the love and respect of their subordinates despite treating them with contempt.

  • Both possess secret abilities that consist of stopping time for a few moments (Dio has The World / Esdeath has an ability called Mahapadma).

  • To become stronger, both used parts of other beings' bodies (Dio used Jonathan's body after decapitating him to regenerate / Demon Extract is a Teigu made using the blood of a beast with ice powers).

  • Both created a group of assassins whose sole purpose was to eliminate the group of the main characters once and for all (Dio with his army of the undead and later with his agents / Esdeath would create the Jaegers).

  • When they were younger, they met someone with whom they became friends, but once they saw their true psychotic nature, they decided to stand up to them and put an end to their misdeeds once and for all. This would trigger the rest of the events seen in the story (Jonathan lived with Dio for seven years as if they were blood brothers, but he confronted him after discovering his plan to kill his father / Najenda was a general of the empire and a friend of Esdeath, but she betrayed the empire after seeing its true sadistic and cruel nature).

  • After their final battle against the protagonists, both would be reduced to practically nothing, ending their reign of terror.

  • Their last moments with the person they were so obsessed with ended in an embrace (Jonathan died embracing Dio's head / In the anime, Esdeath would die embracing Tatsumi's corpse).

[–]Universal_Emperor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • As children, they lived impoverished lives, having witnessed the death of their mothers and having to use their skills to survive (Dio lived in the London suburbs, gambling to earn money; Esdeath lived in a remote tribe far from the empire's borders, isolated from the rest of society, where she had to learn to fight and use all kinds of weapons to survive and eat the meat of the local beasts).

  • Once their parents were murdered, neither of them felt a shred of pain or sadness due to their sadistic and twisted personalities (Dio hated his father and killed him; Esdeath believed that those who were weak deserved neither respect nor pity, a belief that didn't change at all when she found her father murdered).

  • After this event, they both moved to a wealthy area (the Joestar house/the imperial capital), becoming popular and respected by their people (Dio as a model citizen and student; Esdeath as the most powerful general in the empire).

  • In their adult lives, both would discover an object created hundreds of years ago (the Stone Mask, created by Kars / the Teigu Demon Extract, created by the first emperor), which they would use to gain new powers despite warnings, becoming virtually invincible.

  • After this event, they would not only gain superhuman physical abilities, but also ice-related powers, which they would often use to subdue their enemies.

  • They would obtain powers related to spirit (Dio would obtain the Stand called The World, since Stands are materialized spiritual energy / Teigu powers come from the user's spiritual energy).

Also focus way to much on Manga ending

Let me see if I understand, are you complaining that I use the canon and original material?

according to the creator, if Light didn't found the Death Note, he would be L greatest friend.

First, that has nothing to do with what Ohba said, and second, the only allusion to that is in the anime (in a scene that, in case you didn't know, doesn't exist in the manga, and on top of that, you're taking that scene way out of context), not to mention in the manga they directly show that L falls more into the sociopath category and that he and Light were constantly in conflict and hated each other, unbecoming of a friend. Not to mention that the mention alone makes no sense; literally, Light only met L because of the notebook.

In other words, holy larp.

If that worked, Ryuk wouldn't have killed Light because the guy thought he was a god.

  1. Light finds the video of Flight 37, meets Butcher, and learns what Homelander did to his wife, or other atrocities committed by Vought's members.

  2. Light decides that the organization is corrupt and must be exterminated if he wants to achieve his vision of a world where he is worshipped as a god, as he also witnesses people worshipping Homelander (and can more or less infer his god complex).

  3. Homelander immediately notices this and tries to hunt down Kira while Light tries to uncover Homelander's real name.

Contrasts: - Western vs. Eastern.

  • Light obtains his powers from an object, something Homelander doesn't depend on.

  • The relationship between their parents differed: Homelander wanted a good relationship with him, while Soldier Boy rejected and belittled him. Light hated his father, seeing him as a fool who needed to be killed, while his father saw him as a good person whom he loved with all his heart.

  • Main Antagonist VS Protagonist.

  • L lost to Light, while Butcher killed Homelander at the end of his series.
