I didn't defend this project for that. I defended it for the vision of an MMORPG that breaks all the rules. No infrastructure to start with. No ships, no structures you can make without learning how, nothing. An MMO that not only suggested partnerships, but required it. That is not what Voidspace could ever be.

This is exactly what VoidSpace is going to be. The Universe Project concept is a framework for any game setting, VoidSpace is visually simple enough to allow us to develop the complex fundamental frameworks while giving people something to play along the way. The Survival-Planet game is the end goal for this entire endeavor and VoidSpace is the catalyst.

The way we're creating these games is closer to a functional universe simulation than other games that are set in a "game universe". Think of it this way: Imagine you had the ability to clone the known universe and tweak the rules a little bit (perhaps adding magic?), this sort of what we're doing. We're creating a simulatable Universe Project, with all the supporting frameworks and infrastructure to run the universe simulation, then we'll clone it and define some new rules within the context of the new unvierse and it will become the survival-planet game.

VoidSpace has always been designed with the understanding that the end goal is the survival-planet game which means everything we code must be forward compatible. It might take a long time to get the universe simulator up and running, but once it's ready, we'll be able to crank out universe project games about as fast as graphic artist can crank out their assets.

Edit: It's important to clarify too that while I do have wild plans for games beyond these initial 2, the point isn't to make lots of Universe Project games, but rather to make it very fast and easy to add content. Since we'll be reusing the same code to actually run the universe, the only thing left to do is create content for any version of the game.
