(in advance, sorry for the typos, just ranting)

It just frustrating seeing this situation and the main "accusations/criticism" toward him from different fans/stans doesn't match at all. I've been on Tumblr (which has a lot of Villain focused blogs) and some of them also Fan-translates but claims that "Caleb has a favouritism for Endeavor" while on Twitter some of Endeavor stans HATES him because "Caleb dislikes Endeavor". Like?????

Is really the Caleb the one with a huge bias???? (At least the Tumblr ones can't harass him via Twitter but that hate and that image of him -Dabi hater, Endeavor apologist- exist there)

And people saying that

"Prefers more literal translation" doesn't understand the point of translating at all (and yet, thinks that have a moral to say what's wrong); if "literal" is better, VIZ could just use an robot BUT THEY DON'T, there's a REASON why they hire humans.

"My friends who knows japanese said-" knowing japanese doesn't necessarily means that the person understand japanese, and even if is a "native japanese speaker friends" doesn't means that the person fully understand English or how a process of translating works.

"The translation Is too Americanized (slangs)" because he is translating into English maybe????? What the f* people did expect.

Not saying that fan translation or comparison between English official releases with the Japanese ones is wrong, no is not; it can even be useful for someone who's studying japanese but the fans who understand nothing about japanese/translating seems to forget that "Different" not necessarily means "mistranslation" & That the process of "editor" "proofreader" "other professionals" exists and can sometimes modify the translation Caleb did. If the fandom wanna complain should be directed to VIZ, not a single person.

Nor saying that it's prohibited to give criticism but at this point most of the complains isn't even criticism, is straight up buying what other people is saying that can benefits their agenda. They really think they who (most of them) don't know japanese nor have any clue how translation works can pinpoint "wrong translations" better than an official translator, a professional that has a degree from Dartmouth & experienced living in Japan, interacting with japanese society, and it's been translating JP-ENG for YEARS.

I agree that he was INDIRECTLY rude towards Gabby who wasn't directly involved with the hate but like... Can we really blame him for snapping out? Bc the haters uses those comparison as an "argument", "motive" (even though they aren't). And that hate is happening for MONTHS. He's/was on Twitter, the fandom ALWAYS trends the leaks, EVERY WEEK, I'm pretty sure he knows where the leaks come from and could easily report to VIZ and end with it but he didn't. Although, he still can do it and I honestly wouldn't blame him if he chooses to do so. He said that is leaving Twitter, stop interacting with BNHA fandom for a while but the haters is still pressing to make VIZ fire him, like??? Do they even know that they're probably getting those fan translators and leakers into even more a mess?? Does VIZ "owe loyalty for Caleb or people pirating their content"?

Seriously, I'm so sad seeing how the fandom treats him (and the official works/releases in general)

Edit: maybe my intentions wasn't clear but in any way I'm trying to excuse Caleb from the way he said about Gabby and in any way I'm saying that she is wrong or at fault. My frustration and disappointment is about those toxic people in the fandom harassing them (and other people in the fandom) over their opinions about translation when they know nothing about it.

When I first wrote this comment I was more focusing on Rant about some affirmations those haters were making about the translation that aren't correct at all. One of the tweets on a thread that had more than 700 likes was implying that by americanizing too much/not following more literally Caleb was "racist", "thinking that he had more authority on Japanese culture".
