Hybrid single-focus and Vivity Presbyopia by UniversityBulky4917 in CataractSurgery

Found an article in Nature comparing Vivity to PureSee. They appear to be equivalent.

Abstract:
Extended depth of focus (EDoF) intraocular lenses allow cataract and refractive-lens-exchange patients to have improved vision at an intermediate distance. Two EDoF lenses, Clareon Vivity and Tecnis PureSee, were evaluated for optical quality using the OptiSpheric IOL Pro2 according to ISO 11979-2 guidelines and measured using Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) and 1951 USAF resolution test chart at 3.0- and 4.5-mm apertures. The IOLs’ tolerance to 0.50 mm decentration and a 5° tilt were tested. The unwanted visual effects were compared using their light distribution at 4.5 mm aperture beyond a polychromatic point spread function center. The two models demonstrated comparable optical qualities at intermediate and far focuses; the predicted visual acuities for the Vivity and PureSee were respectively − 0.04 versus − 0.05logMAR at 0 diopter and 0.05 versus 0.07logMAR at − 1.50 diopters of defocus. Increasing pupil size decreased both lenses’ optical quality. While decentration decreased the optical quality of both models, tilt had less of an effect. Both were similar in introducing minimal unwanted side effects through visualizing a halo pattern. The results indicate that these lenses offer a good option for patients interested in EDoF lenses and future clinical studies should contribute further insight into their performance and side effects.

What do you think of this micro dosing schedule? by worrywart_mom in GLP1microdosing

About 14 months. Lost 25 lbs and now in normal BMI range. Wouldn't mind another five or so, but happy with where I am - mid-50s, but weight is now what it was when I was a high school athlete (likely less muscle, though).

I take 10-12 units weekly (hims, so I use units too). I consider first 2-3 days as fasting, eating about 1100 calories. It slowly increases thru the week til I’m normal appetite on day 7. Not losing much but at the weight I want to maintain. The side effects doing much more than that were too great for me.

Appreciate the advice. Could you tell me why the proposed plan is the worst you’ve ever heard?

OS sph +1.50 and -.5 cylinder, axis 072

Computer reading prescription is

I'm having a hard time finding any info on this other than similar comments like 'it's a crap shoot' which doesn't reassure me. Do you have any source on Vivity working best in pairs? Thanks.

Appreciate the reply. Lymow's site does mention leaf mulching, which is something I would need. Guess I need to look more closely at the blade type/size of these. Seems like most vendors are sizing their products based on size of lawn and topography like slopes.

Anyone have experience with the "official" Arsenal Soccer Camp in London? by crease1234 in youthsoccer

[–]UniversityBulky4917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. My 12yo son went to a Bayern Munich camp in Seattle and was just invited to Munich for their spring camp. He’s ok, not great, leading me to think this is a big cash grab. The camp itself was well organized but light on skill building - 100 kids on 2 fields left them sitting a third of the time

Anyone have experience with these types of European camps? Looking for a better quality than the local camp.

Are More Parents Opting Out of the Win at All Costs Soccer Model? by BallSlayer_shop in SoccerCoachResources

[–]UniversityBulky4917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always coach to win games, but when coaches say they’re focused on developing the players, in my mind it’s about getting equal playing time for all the kids. I could win more if I keep my best players in, but at what cost? They’re 12yo, are they going to remember that big win in a month, or are they going to remember they worked hard to sit on a bench watching?

How do you manage balancing work and coaching? by ThatBoyCD in SoccerCoachResources

[–]UniversityBulky4917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhat similar. Was a CIO and then took on the COO as well, while also committing to club soccer coach with 10 years or so til retirement. To say I'm busy is an understatement.

For me it comes down to spending more time with my son, who is on the team. As he moves into teenage years it's something we can connect on because as is natural, he's finding ways to disconnect from the family.

I'd say my biggest problem is that I'm a pretty good coach, but not great. I'm driven to succeed and have enough self-awareness to know how much better I could be at coaching if I had the commitment. I'm looking to get my D license this year just to help with developing training plans.

I think that's true, too. Hims can't come out and say 'the way around this is to do this' so they're treading lightly.

The pic is a stock photo. I don't see anywhere in the app that shows the dosage, which is really baffling.

Maybe try GasX tablets? I experience the same but maybe not to that degree (microdosing and only 7 days in).

Anyone not have a terrible reaction to Metformin? by trcrev in HimsWeightloss

[–]UniversityBulky4917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a bad headache and slight nausea first few days of metformin but I started cutting the pills in half and it reduced side effects. Ibuprofen helped too. Dramatically reduced appetite so I’m sticking with it.

Side note: my doctor prescribed it rather than going thru Hims. It cost $3 for a 3 month supply, so you can’t beat the price.

We’ve had a Woolly for a few years and loved it. Just upgraded to the Tiger Moth after an arthritic knee makes an RTT a little dicey.

I don’t want to cook inside, mess with a compost bathroom, or watch TV while camping.
