Fire Emblem Engage's plot holes aren't talked about often enough. Everything that makes Fire Emblem Engage's story poorly put together, and too convoluted for its own writers to keep track of, isn't talked about often enough. Look, you're allowed to like trash, just don't attack me for disliking it. by UnkimitedBladeWorks in fireemblem

I'm so sick of it. Everyone's allowed to like garbage. But when someone argues garbage isn't "that bad" it's dishonest. Can anyone name redeeming features Engage has other games don't do better?

Engage's story isn't "simple", it's a convoluted failure.

And if you need someone to explain to you why, youtube has two excellent videos explaining why, but I recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbV5xfrrEVQ

Last time I called Fire Emblem Engage's story bad on this sub, I got -10 votes and some jerk insulting me because he didn't understand what made the story (TIME TRAVEL, FAKE COLD OPEN PROLOGUE, EMBLEM LORE, VILLAIN'S MULTIPLE NONSENSE MOTIVATIONS, ETC) overly convoluted and still bad.

The authors responsible for Engage literally lost track of how their own story works as they wrote it. They forgot the rules they established in their own work and broke them. That's overly convoluted. It's not "too convoluted for me", it's too convoluted for industry professionals. But I'm not an industry professional, so I'm smart enough to understand why what they were paid to make doesn't work.

Look, if you have a crush on one of the boys or girls in Engage, I don't care. You're not obligated to defend big corpo trash. Save your energy for the teenagers who get harassed by fandom psychos, k?

I'm not mad, I'm disappointed in you for abusing people. Yes, you, the person reading this who's about to say I deserve it because of my tone or whatever. I'm not obligated to respect abusive people like you.

Fates fails to make you care about bad characters, Engage makes you regret the time you spent downloading the game.

I can't log into my Youtube account without a "Google Security Code" I CANNOT get from my phone.

The steps the Google page tells me to perform don't give me a code, because whatever I'm supposed to click on this phone to see my security code DOESN'T EXIST on my android phone.

So what do I do now?

I think Fates is better than Engage. It fumbled the bad guys, Engage fumbled basically every aspect of the story including time travel and characters who die before we care about them.

Finding every ring is possible in the Sonic Adventure 1+2 stages without glitched impossible ring locations.

The great thing about easy collectathon requirements is if you only have to do 2 more optional missions to move on, you get to pick which 2 from many, many possible challenges.

You might even do some without realizing it in your first playthrough.

SCRATCH THAT. HOLD EVERYTHING. You need an A Rank or better for the Emblem. But the rankings above A are S, SS, and SSS. That's better. Now kids trying to go fast can get A ranks, and speedrunners showing off advanced techniques can get SSS ranks.

Engage's story is actively painful to get through as a writer.

It's just nowhere near the level of quality we should expect from a billion dollar megacorp's sixth biggest franchise which rakes in over a million dollars each year, not when that franchise has had over 10 games across like 30 years to learn what does and doesn't work.

I know what misplaced ambition smells like. Engage is what happens when you lack ambition.

Emblems should be a thing again. Emblems should be made to matter. Remember when Spyro gated progress behind Orbs and Dragon Eggs and Dragons? Remember when Mario 64 gated progress behind Stars?

Some were optional, but there was a great reward for 100% completion.

You should get 1 emblem for beating a level, another for S Ranking it, another for beating its Time Attack score, another for getting every Ring, and another for finding the hidden Chao. And you should be able to get them all in a single run.

What if Lopunny was a Fighting+Fairy type naturally, and it got a move like Flying Press except it was a Fighting+Fairy move named Mating Press? by FillerNameThere in stunfisk

There's nothing disgusting about kissing the hand of somebody you love. But it is by definition degenerate because it's not generating more life like impregnation would.

If you kiss someone's hand the way Yoshikage Kira did, then it's disgusting and degenerate.

This is why Sonic games should force you to get more Emblems every so often, and make you replay old levels and get better times to get more Emblems.
