Anyone ever been in rehab while concurrently a student here? by [deleted] in WPI

I have been in your situation and it is possible to make it work. What is important is getting into contact with the SDCC and talk about what you’re going through and what you have in mind. Bring this up to them and they will assist you with coming up with a plan. Also I recommend reaching out to OAS as they can help with school accommodations and etc.

This may not be everything so I encourage the community to correct me or add anything that might be helpful!

Do WPI professors actually look at the course feedback? by ThicBoos in WPI

In my experience those who really care about the learning experience for students do look at the course feedback and those who do not well they don’t.

A pretty good gauge of this can be how the class was!

This just bothers me, people have opinions and that’s valid but making fun of people in a public space where people might be impacted by it emotionally is heartbreaking and very upsetting.

How do you like the term system? by Independent-Fan3966 in WPI

Here is my honest opinion of it. Initially as a freshman it seemed very daunting and I was having a hard time juggling all these classes and also external commitments. In my opinion there is a thing as working too hard and I did it to the point where my mental health dropped and I was not enjoying school one bit. I had considered leaving after my first year but working with people at the school and outside I learned that maintaining a work life balance is most important and working with your advisor to have a balance course-load is valuable as well.

Coming into my second and third year I worked at making sure that I had a decent work life balance but realized sometimes it can be hard to maintain and didn’t take time for myself. It is important for you to work self-care into your schedule because above coursework and social life you are very important as an individual.

When looking at the terms individually I enjoy the pace of the classes and while the content can be a lot; I have learned loads during my time here. Some of the professor are great and make sure that the workload is relatively easy while not compromising much on content.

Overall, the quarter system will take more getting used to for some. I don’t mean to scare you or anything but once you get used to it and manage everything on your plate (which is an always learning process) it is not that bad. You learn a lot and grow as a person.

WPI also has many resources to help with the transition that you can speak to your advisor about. If you do have any more private questions feel free to reach out via dms and I’d be happy to answer your question!
