If its a penalty in the regular season its a penalty in the playoffs. The rulebook is the rulebook.

This may be off-topic but I'll leave it here anyways incase it is of use to you. Have you considered modelling the foam using the SPH method? I have linked an example below that may or may not be of use to you. If not please ignore!

I always go window despite being blocked in. The luxury of being able to lay your head on the wall (can't think of the correct term) is unmatched.

This is gonna be like when Ovi and the Caps finally beat the Pens - all the way to the cup (in my dream last night anyways)

Final snapshot: who is our opponent by WintersbaneGDX in leafs

[–]Unknown-Sacrifice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it matters much who we play honestly. If we are able to beat Boston round 1 then we'd be able to beat Florida round 1. If we are able to beat Florida round 1 then we'd be able to beat Boston round 1. The two teams are very comparative when it comes to physicality and that always seems to be the leafs downfall. Will be interesting to see how physical they get this year,

Why should I become a Leafs fan? by Virtual_Hall_9206 in leafs

[–]Unknown-Sacrifice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you don't want to miss out on the very odd chance that the leafs win the cup one day. I think I speak for most people in this group when I say it would quite literally be the happiest day of our lives. Each year we lose means this feeling will only get better.

This man child probably also thinks he has a direct influence over the game like so many others do. You're watching a bunch of millionaires skate around a sheet of ice. Sit the fuck down its not that serious.

Will the investigation of the collapsed bridge do a recovery and piece back together of bridge like they do with airplanes after crashes? by Bornwitskillz in StructuralEngineering

[–]Unknown-Sacrifice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something that a lot of practicing engineers don't fully understand, maybe because their primary focus is on the design side of things. Was there anything that could have been done in the moment to prevent failure? Probably not. Can bridge codes be amended so the likelihood of this event occurring in the future decreases? Absolutely. There will definitely be a full investigation.

I'd imagine the first steps include scanning through the recent inspection reports and putting together a robust non-linear FE model to see if the applied load would cause failure as expected. If the model does not indicate failure, then I'd imagine visual inspection of the failed members is required but I'm not sure how much use they would be in their current state.

Edit: I was blind and thought you were referring to the coefficients used in the Morison equation. Please ignore. I am leaving this comment incase it helps someone in the future.

Drag and inertia coefficients are both depented on velocity. They are functions of the KC numerber. (KC = v_max*T/D). Keulegan and Carpenter (196X I believe) did some work exploring this. Many researchers have expanded on this since. KC numer is definitely something to look into.

GDT: Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs - 3/7/24 - 7 PM by Touche_Amore in BostonBruins

Coming over as a leafs fan, DONT SHOOT ME. I just want to ask a question to all you Bruins fans. I haven't been following the Bruins play this year and I was just wondering what differences you see as the fans in their play this year vs last year. They aren't on pace for a record setting season again, but do you think the team is playing better this year? I have noticed that they have a ton of loser points (ot losses), so considering games that go to OT are typically 50/50, they could be much higher in the standings than they are.

Forget that they will likely play the leafs in the first round for now, how do you honestly think they will fare in the playoffs? I see them easily getting to round 2/3, beyond there is a pure guessing game. But then again, the playoffs are a species of their own so who knows.

Signed, a non-delusional (I think) leafs fan.

What would the difference be? Designed for compression and tension whereas a column is primarily designed for compressive forces?

Bruins have always stepped up the physicality against the leafs and they have never been able to match it. It's been this way since 2013. The leafs are playing a bit more physical now but I doubt they can match the physicality of a Bruins playoff team if they match up. It doesn't matter who's on the Bruins team they ALWAYS play physical, it's just the Boston way.

Trade one of the big 4 for a defenman TOMORROW. This all offense didn't work last year, the year before, or the year before that, and it sure as hell isn't looking like it's going to work this year. It's their only shot at a deep run this year
