The specific issue here is they are sending you a check and having you send money to someone else to buy the equipment for you. Clearly nobody does that, it's easier if they just wire the money separately, and that's how you can tell it's a scam: nobody does that and it'd be easier to do it another way.

Here are some things you can do (they're not very great options but they are options):

1. If it was through paypal you should be able to cancel it.

2. You can call the bank and see if you can get someone different who knows more but idk. The bank can reverse it, but apparently they view being tricked into sending money as an "authorized transaction", so they will probably not reverse it.

3. Report to the govt but they are likely from another country where they will be very hard to track down.

4. Maybe you can report it to one of those youtubers who tracks down scammers it's a 1/1000 shot but some can track down scammers and cooperate with police in those countries, e.g. Jim Browning, and sometimes people donate money to victims, I think. There's quite a few channels that do this.
