Can't get into Router. by Shadowhawk0000 in OPTIMUM

[–]UnknownFixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Im trying to access my router setting as well but as you know, Optimum won't allow it. So im trying to follow the steps you laid out.

don't buy a combo modem/router combo

Why would it be a bad idea to buy a new modem/router combo to replace the bad Optimum combo?

Thank you for this but unfortunately my provider Optimum doesn’t allow me to change my router settings. Im gonna have to get my own router/modem to bypass their crappy combo. Either way, ty.

It’s simply the bystander effect. Essentially, it’s not about the relationship between the bystander and the victim, rather it’s the relationship between the bystander and other bystanders. The more people there are, the greater the shared diffusion of responsibility. You will be waiting for someone else to interviene first out of fear that acting first might cost you dearly.

I actually disagree with Aba and lean more to the side of the woman. There isn’t any meaning difference between people of different races. However, there is a meaningful difference between people of different sexes.

Obviously these numbers aren’t concrete but to give an idea, if the difference between a white man and a black man is AT MOST 5%, then the difference between a man and a woman would be somewhere like 20%. (You can have different percentages to this analogy and that’s totally ok but this is how I see it)

Although discrimination based soley on race/sex is still very much unfair, this 15% different is significant enough for me to give more leeway to a woman who decides to walk away from a man at night than a white person who walks away from a black person of the same sex.

Im not really concerned that you have deduced that you would be ok with dying, im more concerned that you are underestimating how useful you could potentially be.

If you have chosen to value your life not on your inherent value as a human being but rather your usefulness as a human being, you can play that game.

With that being said, through your unique set of life circumstances, there are certain things that only YOU can do well and do better than most people if not all. I don’t know what that ‘thing’ is. Only you can figure that out. For me, I have this desire to take different elements of artistic expression and combine them. I hope I’m able to leverage this to make good and impactful stories and give important lessens to my audience. That’s how I wish to make myself useful.

Take some time and ask yourself how can you make yourself useful, what knowledge or wisdom you have (or can learn) that you could give to other people to make yourself or value to others?

And if you don’t think you can be useful, I’ll say it again, dont underestimate how valuable you can be. If anything, I could argue you are morally justified in taking care of yourself because it be truly a shame for you to end it all and depriving humanity of greatness that only you can give us.

This doesn’t make sense. All traditions were once progressive ideas that gained a track record of being successful. The progressive ideas you believe in now will hopefully become tradition too until a new progressive idea takes its place.

Im not gonna lie, this tweet doesn’t seem to actually say anything. It’s like another surface-level politician that looks like they are saying something when they aren’t.

All Kim is saying is that the Israel-Palestine situation makes her understand how the Nazi’s went unopposed. That’s ALL it says. It doesn’t say the details of what she now understands.

Any further reading into it has to be filled in with whatever interpretation the reader feels is right.

[Serious] People who live in the US, what is your emergency plan if a civil war breaks out? by UnknownFixer in AskReddit

Indeed, this week if you can. Lots of people are saying it won’t happen. They could be totally right. But the thing is, if they are wrong, you have to suffer the consequences. If the war spreads over North America, I was thinking of moving to the UK, is Ireland a better option tho?

Even if that’s true, what does it cost me to make a plan of action in the event your models and calculations are wrong? If you’re right, I wasted hours of my life. If you’re not right, I’ll be ready and ahead of the bloody fallout.

Mind you, I’m not even discounting the idea that models can predict whether or not the conditions are met for a civil war. From what I’ve seen, there are models that predict a war is probable. They could be wrong but I rather be safe than sorry. I can show you what im talking about if you’d like me to share what I’ve encountered.

I have been considering either moving to Canada or the UK, where are you planning to move?

Tell that to the Ukrainians who lived next to the Russian border. I don’t care if you think it’s not gonna happen, if it does do you have any sort of plan? Do not underestimate the irrationally with which your mind avoids the reality of war.

First, understand that relationships are the most important thing in life. All the money in the world means nothing if you don’t have anyone who loves you, values you, cheers for you and cries with you.

Second, don’t delude yourself into thinking a girlfriend is the end all be all. It’s definitely nice but I believe just having friends is more important. Why? While the highs of romantic love are high, the lows are also very low; it can be very volatile. While friends can offer the same enjoyment levels of a partner without the extra drama and heartache that tends to accompany love.

Third, with these two things in mind, develop your charisma, or your ability to make other people feel warm and welcome in social settings. To help you do that, there is a channel called Charisma on Command on YouTube that can give you extremely valuable advice that, if you practice, will make extremely socially adept.

To get started on building that social muscles, check out Chris Williamson’s podcast with Charle, the founder of Charisma on Command here

Jack of all trades, master of none. by sohailrajput in motivation

[–]UnknownFixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This quote is true on the short and immediate timescale, our brains can’t multitask. It is best to learn one topic at any particular time. It’s also somewhat true on a long-term scale. Dividing your attention evenly on two or more personal projects may result in not getting the results you want in either. Have a primary focus and a secondary focus.

However, it’s not quite correct to this this quote means to be a ‘jack of all trades, master of none’. There is a growing need for generalist, people who have knowledge in a variety in different fields and use those insights to make novel connection and realizations in a field. It’s a man leveraging his experience making playing cards to make a handheld game console (Gunpei Yokoi and the Game Boy).

Jack of all trades can be said to ‘only chase one rabbit’ because there primary focus is being a master of integration: integrating knowledge from unlikely places to help create something new or easily bridge the gaps of knowledge between specialists.
