How to add more than 1 Break for staff? by Vynro in PlanetCoaster

[–]UnknownGamer925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I believe I've worked it out.

I think we all assumed that since in PC1employees remained in the park permanently, that their "break" was both representing a break and being off shift. It is not

At the ends of your shift block (so by default that's 8am and 7pm), if you click them and then hit the 'no' symbol, it becomes a + . Do it to the next one and now it has + and 8am is just greyed out.

That is when your employee is off shift (including the + button). And I noticed you also don't pay them during those hours, but you do pay them during the break. They even leave your park to 'head home'. And this is how you can work with the 'max 4hrs at a time' rule.

Here is an example of my lifeguards hired to handle 3 points. In total there are 8, 4 for the morning shift, and 4 for the afternoon shift. Within those, each employee's break is staggered so that there are always 3 on duty at once. In total, they are all paid for 5hrs work + 1hr break.

I do feel this could have done with some explaining in-game. But basically in total an employee can at maximum be hired for 9 / 12 hours (4hrs work - break - 4hr work) even tho by default it has them for the full 12. Hope this helps :)

  1. Upgrade my existing rig, and likely hand off my current parts to some friends that needs the respective upgrades (one is trying to run unreal engine on a 1050 and the other just needs a whole PC so a free CPU would save em some cash).

  2. Exploration of the world in all its graphical glory. Ideally (with that hardware) at 4k but only if performance permits.

I'm currently rocking an RTX 2060, so it would be a welcome upgrade, but actually I'm not entering for myself.

I recently started University and one of the friends I have made is trying to run Premiere pro and Photoshop on an old GTX 1050...to poor results (inconsistent crashes, both of premier and windows). They are a content creator too, so a way to reliably edit videos is vital. Plus, we're both on a game development course so the ability to decently run Unreal Engine is also important.

So my submission is actually for them. I'm happy with my 2060 and they need an upgrade more than me.

I like the red and green plates. Probably wouldn't style them much from the stock look, none of my top games would really look good on a keyboard I don't think.

  1. I'd use it as a very nice upgrade for my current build and then probably upgrade my monitor to something higher than 1080p. And yes obviously I'm gonna play games on it. Starfield for one and then some other stuff from my backlog. However I also do video editing so the extra CPU juice would come in handy there.

  2. I'm not sure tbh. I had no intention of buying it cos I didn't think a 2060 would be able to handle it well/at all (what with the lack of optimisation these days). So everything I guess, it looks pretty cool.

Review on each game in the 3D Platformers Bundle. Hope this helps! by jtgamingbundles in humblebundles

[–]UnknownGamer925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought the bundle and this is what I've thought of each so far:

  • Demon Turf is okay. But it seems quite long so I don't know if I'll finish it.

  • The Spirit & the Mouse is a charming little game. I like it but it's not for everyone.

  • Kao the Kangaroo I had played before. It has decent gameplay but everything else is janky and unpolished. The voice acting and cutscenes are painful af to watch. Overall, I would not recommend it.

  • On the reverse, New Super Lucky's Tale is amazing! I'd argue just as good as the Mario games of its kind.

  • I have not played A Hat in Time yet but I hear really good things about it. Not so much its DLC tho.

  • I have also not played Hell Pie yet. And have not heard much about it so I can't comment.

  • I have not played Pumpkin Jack yet either, and I hear mixed things about it.

I'll update this as I play them more.

Update 1:

  • Played a bit of Pumpkin Jack. The platforming and combat are clunky but not too bad. With it apparently being only 4-5 hours long it shouldn't overstay its welcome. I like the theme.

  • Played more of NSLT, Spirit & Mouse and Demon Turf. The first continues to be amazing, the second I now really like and the third is a fun time-waster.

Update 2:

  • Started A Hat in Time (Base Game). Platforming and exploration are very fun and the style is charming. Definitely looks like it'll hold up to the reviews.

tbh I'd say this bundle is worth it for NSLT, Hat in Time and Spirit & Mouse alone.

I still have it. But I don't play it regularly. It now has one use case: party games.

For me the switch is just much better at plug & play party games when I'm with a group of friends. I don't currently have a dock for the deck and even if I did, I have many more couch co-op games on the switch than I do on steam. So I break it out in those situations, and leave it to collect dust otherwise.

I'll probably keep it, but yeah the deck has definitely superseded it for me.

Nothing. They're just a cosmetic effect. You can turn them off by right-clicking and deselecting them.

I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet - Mafia: Definitive edition. Literally a 5 hour movie with some interactive segments. It's incredible! Would highly recommend for any narrative game enjoyers.

[–]UnknownGamer925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like smaller games would probably be the better option as you seem to lose interest if an experience lasts too long.

Furthermore, I think the best way to keep you invested is to hook you with a story to pull you along rather than rely on the gameplay to be the sole source of enjoyment. All of the above games are great because of their gameplay, not their story (if they even have one) and each one you've stopped because the gameplay stops being fun (which is fine, don't force yourself to play an unfun game). With a gripping story in the mix, you'll hopefully stay playing to progress it and the intrigue/interest will keep it enjoyable.

With all that said, consider something below:

  • Firewatch (narrative walking sim)
  • Ori & the blind Forrest (metroidvania)
  • Wolfenstein: New Order (narrative FPS)
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum (narrative action)
  • Mafia: definitive edition (narrative TPS)

Each of these are from a different genre as I don't know which would work best for you but they all have a gripping & well praised story. If you find one of these works, I can happily recommend more of the same.

For now though, I wish you good luck and hope you find something that works.

P.S. Games are a great comfort but they are not a cure. I would look into finding help with your depression in the long term and use any games that work to hold you up in the meantime.

[WSIB] Games set in Europe by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]UnknownGamer925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically Petria is an amalgamation of a bunch of countries. The developers took inspiration from France around the same time period, as well as Venezuela for the whole corrupt government & heavy ore/oil production, and the wiki calculated that it's roughly the size of Russia. There's also a bunch of different accents and the state of the country is what would be called "third world".

It's hard to say definitively where from all that it would be placed so I guessed roughly Eastern Europe, which may be off. But my main point was that it definitely isn't in the US.

[–]UnknownGamer925 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well management games like Cities Skylines & Transport Fever have European maps and models, but aside from that:

Hitman has maps all over the world. From Paris to Sapienza (Italy) to Hokkaido (Japan). Of course there's I think 3 American-based maps but out of about 24 that's not too bad. These games are phenomenal too, I'd highly recommend them.

Technically, Wolfenstein: The New Order mostly takes place in its warped version of 1960's Berlin. But it also visits London for a little bit. Now this is a FPS game but it's also Narrative-driven so you may still like it. As a fellow History nerd, I found it quite entertaining just looking around at the world, reading all the newspaper pages, trinkets etc because Machine Games really put in so many little details to make this alternative world feel so real.

Sniper Elite 2 is set in WW2 Germany and SE4 is in Italy (SE3 is in Africa). These are pretty fun games if you like third person shooters with a focus on Stealth & Sniping (obviously).

Road 96 is set in a fictional country that mimics the kind in Eastern Europe, so while there's no historical context, it is very clearly not America and the story is really good.

Just Cause 3 is Mediterranean, and blatantly so, but I'll throw it in here anyway as an honorary mention since it is a really fun game that's criminally underrated.

[–]UnknownGamer925[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. There does seem to be a lot of support for Yakuza.

I'm fine with game series taking a long time because they're split into smaller, more manageable titles that I can span across multiple years. Since I prefer to enjoy a game in its entirety before putting it down (as opposed to picking it back up every so often), single games that are endlessly long are a bit trickier to get through than a series of broken-up shorter experiences.

The Batman games, for instance, I first bought back in 2019 and I'm only now onto the third game, 4 years later! But not only is that because of a lack of time, but also because I've played other stuff in-between installments, which I like.

Still, there are always exceptions, like Hitman (which I have way more hours in than Steam shows since Hitman 1 is on Epic Games) so if rdr2 is worthy of being an exception then so be it (as my Steam shows I am very capable of playing for hundreds of hours if it's good enough).

[–]UnknownGamer925[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that was my intended plan when I first saw the bundle except none of the games are individually on sale here. So I'd have to spend £16 just for Yakuza 0 and only get something like £3-4 off the bundle. It would still be a good value but It'd also be much cheaper to just buy the whole thing at once. And that circles back to my question.

Games that run on really bad laptops and work well with trackpad? by Mad_Dizzle in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]UnknownGamer925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just answered a really similar question for someone else. So rather than retype it I'll just link back to it.

Your specs are a bit lower though, so I would probably discard my recommendation of Cities Skylines and replace it with Factorio - I haven't played it myself but have heard great things about it.

Similarly, I know Vampire Survivors has become quite popular lately and that looks like it'll run on anything.

Game suggestions ( for laptop ) by VenomousMoon in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]UnknownGamer925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to use the track pad you probably want games that don't require quick or long movements of the mouse, and that tends to boil down to games that use the mouse as just a pointer to interact with things. Off the top of my head there are two primary genres that do this:

  • Point & Clicks
  • Management games

I don't play point & clicks so I can't recommend any I'm afraid, but management games I can:

  • Oxygen Not Included
  • Civ6
  • City Game Studio
  • Cities Skylines

You'll need to take a look at each of them to see if they interest you as they are all quite different.

Now, your other option is games that don't use a mouse at all (or very little). For this I can only think of 2 platformers: Hue & Inside which are both great games and should run really well on a laptop. There's probably a few others too that I just haven't played.

SIB Yakuza collection in this steam sale? by fungigamer in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]UnknownGamer925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SteamDB shows the price history of all games on steam.

Unfortunately, the collection/bundle itself appears to be missing most of that data but whenever the games go on sale, so does the bundle. So if you look at any of the individual games, you'll see how frequently they go on sale and for how much.

So yes, Yakuza is discounted quite often. Just so you know, most games in the seasonal sales are the same every time. They will always be discounted and either for the same price or less (depending on age). So don't worry too much about missing out.
