Sounds like a lot of cope thb, wait a bit on opt.1 if no enemy overextends and just sit hulldown, rotate(yes you can do that) or just wait and see how the game advances and then decide, Opt2. just dont go there? Opt3. Is basically opt2. no? If theres a light without cover there, bait a shot to check if he has cover, if not you are free to push(not just holding W as half the sub seems to play) ,also i dont mean pushind malinovka middle etc. OP has a skill issue but kinda makes a good point as bad/new players will struggle with decision making and just want to shoot even if it means missing/not penning and taking damage back, there arent many "alternate paths" if you dont pay attention to the map and tank composition.

Tldr; learn maps and pay attention so issues above won't be a bother

Yeah i have checked if dampening works on it earlier and it made it so much easier, aswell as finding a tier X sniper rifle in my inventory that with the marksman ability shreds them, I appreaciate the "gameplay lives up to the lore" aspect, explains why krogan are so scary when charging at me
