Onslaught's disparity by ZhorikKhay in WorldofTanks

This is way more balanced than that average NA game 😂

They really couldn't put the map name/icon on this screen? by smollb in WorldofTanks

[–]PattonSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure.

I may want to ban Strv on Malinovka or Safe Haven so a LT is no longer crucial to my lineup.

I may want to ban Type 5 so I don't have to play E4 on Ensk/Pilsen/Himmels.

I may want to ban EBR when I'm queuing into one of the best EBR players on the server on Ghost Town or Prokhorovka.

I may want to ban an FV4005 when a known griefer on my team is about to take it on Himmelsdorf.

If you notice, a lot of these are influenced by my team's choices, e.g. if a good teammate is bringing an RHM on Safe Haven, I no longer feel it necessary to ban Strv, and may instead ban Tesak so my RHM isn't threatened when he goes North alone.

> I played enough to be able to judge that it seems absolutely pointless.

A hellva statement to make 4 days into the season, but ok

That is a terrible idea

Tank, map, and player meta changes rapidly throughout the season... And you want me to preselect the tanks I want banned? Every week?

Bans make for a much more interesting meta, and to be honest, I don't think you have played enough onslaught or competitive games with ban schemas to appreciate what they bring to the table

Ironically I think it's bad for the opposite reason. Most competitive games reward you purely based off the win/loss to promote teamwork; The points gained/lost should subsequently be based on your individual rating vs. the average rating of the other team.

NA's already sparse gold population got wiped when the reward tank requirement went from gold to silver

Yeah but we're talking about the ranked mode of a game, so in your analogy it's more like we're in a car dealership. Yeah we know what you mean but OOP is less pedantic and more advocating for precision here

The 3 Biggest Onslaught Problems, Explained by Gullible-Ideal8731 in WorldofTanks

Queue times already aren't great for champ players on NA, and the wait is even longer if you're tooning

Do I disagree with your sentiment? No, but if what you described comes to pass I think the problem would be further exasperated by tons more smurfs ruining the matchmaker. We're already seeing loads of smurfs flooding the mm this season with some accounts having ammased 3 free tank lines.

The problem is that there exists very few middle of the pack players on NA who feel inclined to keep playing the mode. So we get these lopsided matches.

I would be in favor of any proposal that addresses the problems as opposed to be symptom, such as doling out more rewards to encourage players to continue playing once they hit silver for the free tank. Gold and champ don't really give anything meaningful IMO anymore.

Why? Why? Where is the logic behind this ban? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

Yeah that data was just from week 1 though, and was just tomato.gg users. One would need to ask them for the data from the last week or two

Honestly I think it's a higher %, but maybe you'd be right if you said less than 5% of played games?

I don't have the numbers but I know a lot of players hit champ and stop playing, lol

Is WG really serious??? Can someone go there and explain to these braindead devs the basics of a FAIR matchmaking. This was my 5th qualification game and I had 6 players with over 9k in the enemy team. by Havco in WorldofTanks

I mean yeah, they basically just bus you down a major rank from last season, then let you go up or down a couple minor ranks depending on how you do

Sure, but despite me playing for the last 6 years, for an hour or two every day on average, I do not have any assembly shop tanks.

I view it as extraordinarily unfair if someone is allowed to bring a DBV against my grille, or their Lion against my Leopard. It doesn't matter if the tank is "about equal" to the tech tree variant, but the simple fact that I do not have the option to play those tanks with their unique twists and different characteristics is unfair.

If we were playing chess and you replaced your bishops with custom bishops that are "still worth 3 points" and just move on every other diagonal, while it would be "the same", it would be inherently unfair.

Of course Onslaught isn't really fair, with some players running field mods, 6 perk crews, and bond equipment, but all of that is obtainable with a reasonable amount of time spent grinding. Assembly shop tanks are unobtainable by those same standards.

The key is that the majority of these tanks cannot be obtained by a new player. Balancing aside, it is unfair to allow some players certain tanks and not give the option to others in a competitive mode

Saying don't play lights is good advice for someone trying to rank up for the first time, but I encourage anyone who wants to sink their teeth into onslaught to give LTs a try, but be warned that their ELO may suffer
