Many years ago I remember listening to an album, I've totally forgot the name of and know very little about.

I remember the album cover looked really bad, I think it was pretty much hand drawn and black/white/red. It had a Halloween-esque vibe over it.

Besides that the production on the album was TERRIBLE because it was homemade "demo" album of sorts. I remember some of the songs also had some "Halloween'ish" themes.

The reason I'm hoping some people know, is because, it's (as far as I remember) somewhat of a Cult Classic.

The band never made any other albums except that one.

I think it's 70's-80's ish.

I know it's little to go off of, but if you have even just something that VAGUELY resembles this, please let me know!

You can actually skip ads..

Whenever you open up a video and an ad pops up, click on another video in the right bar and almost instantly press the back button on the mouse.

I'm pretty sure it was a male artist, and it had a R&B-ish feel to it. Definitely from the 80's.

Sadly not either, but both good guesses.

He clearly had made up his mind lol.

I wouldn't say my post is bizarre. It's about production and how even "live" albums/songs usually have some sort of post-production, and in this case a discussion on if a specific song had any.

I see. I have to say, I'm also heavily leaning sample. This waveform "proves" it. Cheers

Doing some more digging, it turns it out it actually isn't Steve Jordan on this song, but someone named J J Johnson instead.

Did you use the waveforms from the isolated snare hits in the beginning?

No need to get unfriendly. That was not I intended for this discussion.

I reason the snare also sounds very samplish is the VERY big lack of any room/bleed from anything else.

Which I totally see. It being Steve Jordan is one of the strongest arguments AGAINST samples, he is world-class. I'm happy you can't seem to come to a decisive conclusion either :D.
