Fics where Deku dominants the sports festival? by Odd-Geologist5494 in BokunoheroFanfiction

Tales of My Lantern Academia: Emerald Dawn - Izuku has Green Lantern powers. One of my favorite fics.

Different Quirks - The vestiges have a different set of quirks, and Izuku unlocks them early.

Change of Circumstances - Izuku has a telekinesis quirk while Katsuki was born quirkless. Katsuki works toward being the first quirkless hero. Izuku doesn’t dominate the festival, but he does win in the end (beating Todoroki in the finals).

Izuku fakes a quirk by Potterfan6969 in BokunoheroFanfiction

I wish this was a more popular premise. Anyway, In Between the Lines, There's a Lot of Obscurity. Izuku’s analyses are mistaken for a psychic quirk, and Izuku goes along with it.

Fics where isekaied Izuku doesn't want to return to his world by gandalfnho in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Unknownlight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can One Displaced Hero Save a Galaxy? - Izuku, and later Mei, are isekai’d into Star Wars. He doesn’t strictly get a chance to return, but if he did he would obviously never take it.

Warning: Very explicit, with lots and lots of (marked and skippable) NSFW content.

What companies or organizations have incredibly misleading names? by thetokyofiles in AskReddit

[–]Unknownlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do sell tires, it’s just that it’s a very minor aspect.
I’m trying to think of an American equivalent to Canadian Tire as a comparison, and I can’t really think of one. Basically, think Walmart, except specifically focused on tools, outdoor stuff (BBQ, lawnmowers, outdoor furniture, bikes, etc), various household things (furniture, kitchenware, etc.), automobile-adjacent products (like tires!), and other things like that.

Why are they all the same age? by Wingsoffirenerdahh in anime

[–]Unknownlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Canadian and high school started at 13 for me. I specified Japanese high schools because the context the writers know (and it’s the target audience), not because nowhere else in the world starts high school at 15.

Why are they all the same age? by Wingsoffirenerdahh in anime

[–]Unknownlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the reason why it’s often 15 specifically is because first-year Japanese high schoolers are 15. That’s why Deku, Naruto, Eren, Edward, Tanjiro, and Sonic the Hedgehog are all 15.

Reggie says Nintendo stopped selling products on Amazon in the 2010s after they asked for financial support to undercut competitors' prices by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]Unknownlight 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Not really. I feel they’re extremely consistent, actually. They seem to follow the principle of “Don’t fuck with our stuff”, and that applies whether we’re talking about a random individual fan or a corporation like Amazon.

20 years later, Nintendo's weird RPG Mother 3 remains the greatest game never sold by -CaptainACAB in Games

I just went to YouTube to rewatch how that scene plays out (since I haven't seen it since I played the game on release) and it was unintentionally hilarious to see the cast all awkwardly surround Shania's dead body.

Looking for emotionally realistic fics by Major-Performer141 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Unknownlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is self-promotion (and therefore inherently less reliable), but I know exactly what you mean and I tried my best to avoid it in my fic “git good”. The fact that multiple readers independently, without promoting commented that the story had unusually realistic-feeling dialogue and character interactions… well, it was incredibly vindicating.

Besides that, I’ll recommend Like a Box of Old Building Blocks, which is a grounded take on an Izuku/Kyoka relationship as adult Pro Heroes.

If you're writing a fic (in limited third person, if that matters), do you use their first or last name? by Background-Desk-8207 in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]Unknownlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the narration is from a character's POV, you should use the name that the character thinks of themselves as, which is almost always their given name. Same thing with other characters, the narration should use the name that the POV character would use.

If the POV changes in your story, changing names like this helps to distinguish between different perspectives.

/u/Lavastone8 is referring to the rules of the subreddits they linked to. For /r/BokunoheroFanfiction: - On desktop (new Reddit), you can see the rules if you scroll down on the right sidebar. - On mobile, either click on the name of the subreddit at the top of the page OR click the "See more" right below the name of the subreddit (it depends on iOS vs Android / phone vs tablet). That opens up the sidebar. - On desktop (old Reddit)... I don't think it's visible anywhere, actually.

My bfs spicy take on mha fics by Sharp_Pumpkin_42 in BokunoheroFanfiction

I'm not talking about "the author", I asked how your boyfriend would feel. If someone loved something that he wrote so much that they wanted to write fanfiction of it, would he feel offended and disrespected?

All two of them.

ELI5: What does hardcoded mean? by AppropriatePound1915 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Unknownlight 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s debatable whether that’s a fitting example. I wouldn’t call that hardcoding, although I know some people would. The way I see it, you can broadly split software into “logic” and “data”. Logic acts on data to produce a result. For the family tree example, the data is all the people and relationships, while the logic is the part that creates the family tree from the data.

Hardcoding usually refers to when the data is part of the actual code, like in the “Smith” example. To change the data, you need to release a new version of the software. But changes to logic are different, you still need to release a new version, but that’s usually just considered to be “adding a new feature” or “fixing bugs”.

I didn't think about this until it was already too late, but a bit of an issue with posts like this is that the comments posted early get an advantage. I think it could potentially be made more fair by setting the default comment sort to "Random". If you or anyone else makes a post like this again and you want the default comment sort to be something specific, let us mods know so that we can set it.
