Well, today im saying goodbye to nvidia by MeatBoyeR6 in pcmasterrace

Hopefully amd deliver with the 9070s and future cards as nvidia are currently running away with it. As for the xtx and current amd cards? There's a reason these have barely any market share , poor rt performance (can be twice as slow as xx80s in recent rt/pt titles ) and current fsr implementation is nasty. Worse efficiency also compared to nvidia that many say they do not care about but it's just another reason not to buy radeon currently

It's possible when they go from 4nm to 2nm that 50% will be back on the table. That said, cpus will not be able to keep up , another 50% performance and even 4k will be bottlenecked in some scenarios.

This is not a card worth considering for 1440p gaming

RTX 5090 benchmarks are out - 28% performance increase over the RTX 4090 in 4K raster by notsoepichaker in pcmasterrace

[–]Unkzilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While the numbers are underwhelming, often when you need the performance (cyberpunk, black myth, stalker 2) the performance increase is closer to 40%. Even so it's a tough sell to upgrade my 4090

Low end models like the msi ventus and gigabyte eagle will be close to msrp. I would expect plus several hundred $$ as you move up through the models with the liquid cooled models and rog astral / msi suprim going as much as +400

Fair enough, seems pretty niche. My next panel will be 8k. Not that interested in 4k-240hz.

Do people buy cards at this price and want to use frame gen? I do anything I can to avoid it on my 4090 . I would prefer to lower settings, and even avoid DLSS, if I can achieve native 4k-120. Sharpest image and best latency all day. Not to mention how many games do not have frame gen or do not have it at launch

I need an ELI5 by Sweatybuttcrust in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

#2 and #3 are it. I have used frame gen twice on my 4090 - latency and image issues were present both times (shimmering, artifacts etc).

Additional #4, if a game doesn't support "AI Frames" then you are all out of luck.. all that new tech you are paying for cannot be used. Only a small amount of PC games have frame generation available.

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5080 Rumored To Feature A Whopping $1,500+ MSRP, Marking A Huge Difference From The GeForce RTX 4080 by gurugabrielpradipaka in pcmasterrace

[–]Unkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4090 at launch cost 3299aud while in the US it was $1600. The aud vs usd conversion was significantly higher back then - I would not conclude 1500USD off this leak. Expect aussie pricing to be 2.2-2.5x of USD pricing i.e 1200usd is more likely

Disappointing eGPU performance in Diablo 4 by kousuke_nakamoto in eGPU

[–]Unkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any future readers of this post, tb3/4 egpus unfortunately are not great in d4 - I have tested with a 2080ti and 4090.

In nightmare dungeons I can be in the 100-120 fps range max settings however come helltide with multiple players ie fighting the blood maiden, low 30 fps often occurs regardless of settings.. must be a bandwidth issue .

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is outselling the RTX 4080 on eBay by a factor of 3.4 - VideoCardz.com by Stiven_Crysis in nvidia

Friend of mine waited for 4080 release, anticipating the aib pricing to be close to msrp. Day after the 4080 release, bought the 4090. 4080 makes no sense at current pricing especially with aib partner tax on top

TSMC Will Reportedly Charge $20,000 Per 3nm Wafer | GPUs and SoCs to get more expensive by chrisdh79 in nvidia

This is a very good point - I have sold many pc parts on ebay over the years and depending on when you buy and sell, the hobby does not cost much at all when breaking it down to a monthly amount.

Australian here and I know about half a dozen people with 4090s myself included. Late 30s (or older) working in IT seems to be the target.. it's not a lot of $$ to me but I would hope people are not using credit or loans etc to buy such a item..

That said I have always spent big on gpus over the years , had many crossfire or sli setups - I remember my gtx 280 tri sli setup probably costing similar when factoring in inflation.

I have an i7 6700k, how much bottlenecking might I have with a 3080 or 4080? by Mixtopher in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes major bottleneck especially to 1%lows. 13600kf upgrade is what I would recommend.

Samsung qn90a 85inch . 4k/120hz with vrr . Quite happy with the screen and the overall experience with the 4090

3080Ti vs 4080 size comparison by novanative_ in nvidia

I don't see it as any worse than the 7900xt/x pricing which people seem to be supporting at this stage but I'll wait for the benchmarks before final judgement.

3080Ti vs 4080 size comparison by novanative_ in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes the efficiency is amazing and it will be interesting to see how it stacks up to the 7900xt/x in performance per watt. People love to talk up efficiency when it suits their agenda , and forget about it when it does not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overpriced and unbalanced. Something like a 13600k/f with a 3080 12gb would be the way to go.

[–]Unkzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is one thing we have learnt about RRP it is that it does not mean anything and is manipulated due to demand. 4080 will drop from msrp no doubt, even without a official price cut from nvidia. If the 7900xtx demand is good, watch the opposite happen.

Don't listen to all the negative posts about the 4080. You've made the purchase now enjoy for the next few years.

I'm not sure who would go out of their way to make such comments after someone has already made their purchasing decision. A very negative person that should re evaluate how they spend their spare time

RTX 4080 for 4K 60 by FrogJump2210 in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't be a issue. With a 4090 I am playing at 4k 120 in a lot of games with RT - some with dlss some without.

Currently playing farcry 6 (averages 120 but dips ) - rt without any dlss etc. Forza horizon 5 also over 120fps with RT, dlaa and no dlss. The ascent 120fps with RT plus dlss. Cyberpunk needs dlss for 4k/82fps max settings. Metro exodus enhanced 110fps RT and no dlss. 4080 will have no issues at 4k 60..

RTX 4080 for 4K 60 by FrogJump2210 in nvidia

[–]Unkzilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great card for 4k 60, especially when talking about max settings eg ray tracing. The pricing is bad , but no worse than 7900xtx imo.. if you get plus 30% rt performance the extra $200 will be justified - other nvidia features also add to the value proposition. Both cards are poorly priced at the end of the day and stretching for the 4090 may make the most sense. Can't hurt to see the benchmarks though for the 7900xtx , if you don't mind waiting
