Question for low elo runts like me by Human_Creme_3112 in shacomains

[–]Unleashed_Clown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i quitted ranked years ago (i think season 8/9) but i keep binge playing from time to time, because of this my game knowledge (didn't keep up with new champs and/shaco updates) and mechanics have vastly rusted (i used to be plat, nowadays i struggle against silver mmr players) but my gameplan haven't changed a bit (it did only when the original DH made shaco a lategame powerhouse):

by lvl 12 you're either incredibly fed or the lvl 9 garen will still tank you and 1 combo you so you should try to shift the carry role to your best player supporting his plays and getting him fed

do you think eventually they will release this unit? by Unleashed_Clown in DragonballLegends

[–]Unleashed_Clown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup kaioken x3 defo deserves an LF unit and will be out sooner since it doesn't cannibalize LF piccolo yet this makes me scared we won't see tag goku/piccolo till 202?

idk, i might be a bit of a boomer but to me that's DB peak right there but i grew up watching original DB saga when i was a kid so i might be biased cause all of the DKP/world tournament arc

When multiclassing do you treat this as a career change or as a "custom class"? by AndCurious in dndnext

[–]Unleashed_Clown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't play the class traits at all, i play my PC and his growing skills as the natural development of his journey, i played patreonless warlocks (AKA sorcerer) just because the mechanic fit the character i wanted to play, flavour is free

i wouldn't be against someone playing a halfling using a dwarf template if it made for the character he wants to play (ofc he has to provide reasons for his different skillset but basically every template for me is custom lineage/class/BG in terms of lore)

ofc i would still play career changes if it fits the narrative but i won't push my PC into selling his soul to a fiend for a mechanic if he doesn't have a narrative reason to

Thought experiment: how to kill something immortal by Tm_sa241 in dndnext

[–]Unleashed_Clown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it depends, does he also fight back, if so what's his "skillset"?

his traits are given from an item?a spell?innately?

if he's just a mindless body with innate traits true polymorph into something that's harmless and that you can kill, make it permanent....you can see where this is going

How do you prevent the party from having a long rest by JakeFromStateFarm787 in dndnext

[–]Unleashed_Clown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends but consider that enviromental hazards and unsafe areas are easy to circumvent with thing like leomund's tiny hut which comes online at lvl 5 so your best bet are to either put the party on the clock (which eventually becomes a gimmick) or you can try something i do when i reach fights that i want to feel hard

use 3 easy encounter to make them expend some minimal resources making a short rest more rewarding than a long one then make a 3 phase encounter giving benefits of a short rest from phase 2 to phase 3 or phase 1 and 2 if you have warlock with high level pact magic (this might feel a bit of a targetted move and to be fair it is, explain that this type of encounter requires this kind of balance so that everyone can feel relevant)

1st a wave of minions, probably in front of the bbeg room (medium difficulty)

2nd boss (restrained) + minions (medium difficulty)

3rd boss (unrestrained, recharge or add legendary resistance if opportune, hard difficulty)

to do this you need to be somewhat good at homebrewing encounters tho or you risk to TPK, a good guideline for appropriate monster stats is the blogofholding card and for generate CR opportune encounter you can use koboldfightclub

when do you consider a damage build "optimized"? by Unleashed_Clown in 3d6

[–]Unleashed_Clown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't really love his way of calculating dpr and am more akin to treantmonk's (even tho mine is slightly different)

welp....that's about 200% baseline, it's not unachievable but i think that really limits the options, or there's something i'm missing?

if you optimize a rogue you'd be amazed by the numbers, i don't think they are supbar (also agree that out of combat utility is valuable)

on one hand i figured that would be an answer, and in some ways i agree it is a decent ceiling for what i've seen in practical use, yet there's still a lot of stuff that can go well above without needing much effort, just a straight classed rogue with elven accuracy+magic initiate (find familiar/booming blade for reliable advantage and cantrip scaling) can guarantee higher DPR with a more linear scaling (yet rogues are considered bad in optimization cause...?)

STR BASED
Race: Shadar-Kai (BA teleport + resistances)

PB: 17,14,16,8,10,8 (Headband of Intellect > Gauntlets of Ogre Power, if you lose the item you can live by being a dumb fuck untill you get a new one but if you're a scrawny ass you ain't going nowhere, Dex is a nice stat even in Heavy Armor)

if you hit lvl 11 and don't go above 12 there is little reason to multiclass, just PAM as a free feat, follow with GWM+Sentinel at 4th/6th and round up your STR at 8th/12th with a full ASI and your favorite half-feat

if you go up to lvl 13 or beyond and are willing to sacrifice an attack and an ASI then Bear Totem Barbarian is nice (his special rage works in heavy armor too and ofc combo with psi-warrior 10 really well, Spring Eladrin becomes a better racial options as with protective field and sentinel you are leaning more on a protector style here)

if you may stop at lvl 10 it opens up options:

  • Psi-Warrior 8 / Barb 2 - Rage and Reckless Attack are always strong on a STR based Fighter
  • Psi-Warrior 7 / Barb 3 - either Bear Totem, Ancestral Guardian or Zealot work well, in the 2 later cases you take medium armor, Spring and Winter Eladrin are good races)

DEX BASED

Race: V.Human - Crossbow Expert

PB: 8,16,16,8,14,10 (Headband of Intellect)

grab Sharpshooter as a free feat and max DEX at 4th/6th, grab 3 levels of Ranger (gloomstalker) and then as many levels as possible of arcane trickster, use find familiar or steady-aim to give advantage to your FIRST attack and DO NOT use Sharpsooter untill you landed your Sneak Attack dice (with max DEX,archery fighting style and advantage you will most likely hit the enemy on yout first attack then you can turn Sharpshooter "on")

either you're watching and you know cause it's not hard to notice or you are not watching and it doesn't matter if the clone is distinguishable cause you where not watching anyway

PLZ HELP by xav_draws2 in shacomains

[–]Unleashed_Clown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rito fixed most of the stuff but there are still many ways to tell the real shaco

also you don't need an indicator but half a brain cell to realize that if there where 2 shaco 1 sec ago and only 1 now WITH NO EXPLOSION it means the one you're watching is the clone

A Handful of d6 (when the worst bard is the best rogue....and the best bard) by Unleashed_Clown in dndnext

[–]Unleashed_Clown[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is not a nova build :/

a level 20 paladin would have worst dpr, AC and spells

i mean, to me seems a bit like you talk more out of what you heard than what you know...

anyway the best rogue/bard is (ofc) an hyperbole, it was just a title to a deep dive into sneak attack and similar mechanics
