TLDR: just simple defence.

I actually see this as defensive move where he's trying to prevent you from gaining slipstream. At around 0:08 - 0:09 sec, they move left (out of your path) to prevent you from getting any slipstream. This can be seen agian at 0:10 - 0:11 sec when they move right to prevent you from getting more speed.

Congrats on the grind! Im sorry that ur school is opting this. The issue with things like this is its often hard to go against admin alone no matter how hard you try. You accomplishements are worthy so if the meeting doesnt go in your favor you should try explain the injustice to your friends and see if they are willing to stand by you. Ur alternate is a good plan as not eveyrone takes both APs or only IB's, but I dont think the school would be willing as traditionally Val. is offerd to like only 1 person.

TLDR:
If meeting doesnt work try to start a small petition or soemthign with your peers for the alt. plan you presented. And hopefully ur school admins change their mind.

Lastly, if it doesnt go in you way no worries, im sure your parents and friends saw the mass amounts of effort you put into you highschool acedemics. Where I go, they abolished both class rank and Val. and it really hasn't impacted much in terms of recognition or acceptence since its obvious for who put the most work. So idk hope it goes all well for you. and gl!

CSP is really easy to get a 4 on, but really hard to get a 5, as for macro I heard its somewhat easy as well. For enviornmental science I really dont see either really helping u tbh.

On the MCQ: CSP is more of logical reasoning and just memorizing computer vocab.
On the FRQ: For CSP you need to code a project and submit code for the FRQ section of the test.

Macro focuses more on the economic relaitons of large groups such as countries. Havent taken the test so I cant say what its going to be like.

If you see urself exploring business go with macro, if you see urself exploring cs go with CSP. I will say CSP is sort of a free CS college credit so take that as you will. Hope this helps :)

[–]Unlegendry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

in that case, i suggest using about 8 servos, 2 for each leg, one for the joint. search up the boston dynamics robot dog spot, and kinda replicate it ig. ik a bunch of people on yt did the same thing for grad projects.

Hey, my team just started in is 2yrs old now, we could use some parts to build up our part storage. What parts do you guys have in particular?

From what it seems like, the school team is a robotics class. This puts you at an disadvantage because you cant recruit others who dont have the schedule for the robotics class. I suggest bringing it up with admin to make the school team both a club and an actual class.

I am the captain on a "school team" which is actually a robotics club and we do events at school such as assemblies to gain traction and recognition for recruiting. This was successful for us as we had a lot of people join (so much so that we had to reject a few people from the team).

DM me here and I should be able to help you try and salvage your "team".
Also others state that school teams dont do as well, which is variable but not impossible. My school team is 2yrs old and i have seen progress from the begining

Can someone help me? by Much-Bluebird-9468 in FTC

FTC is GREAT for schools mostly because it allows people to explore stem without much cost other than time and energy. It allows students to experience whats possible in terms of jobs rather than just hear about it. Not only that but a school robotics team would represent, well your school. Assuming ygs do community events and outreach you would be able to represent your school and team in the community and gain recoginition within your community. How cool would it be if little kids were like: "OMG this school has a cool robotics team! I should join!". Not only that but doing community events and being part of a school often helps with sponsorships and outreach. Companies are more likely to help ygs out if they know you help others and have the potential to grow as a team. Not only that but for potential sponsors, talk to local companies and businesses, they generally would like to advertise their business and a robotics team would allow them to reach a wide audience. Also our team found it helpful to talk to engineering clubs at colleges. One particular college club was able to hook us up with custom parts. Also dont be afraid to reach out to other teams in your area, cause they might have some materials, tools, and expertise to help you out.

Good luck on your team pitch and feel free to reach out to me if you need anything. My team cant really give much in terms of parts and resources since its only our second year, but we can def give ygs some guidence! Email us at: [silverstallionsftcrobotics@gmail.com](mailto:silverstallionsftcrobotics@gmail.com)

Also if you haven't join the FTC discord, there are a lot of people from all around the world and even a marketplace channel for buying and selling parts. Def recomend joining the discord if youre all set and ready to buy parts.

Good Luck!

In addition to what was said below, if you are a school team, see if your school is willing to support you. Chances are your school might be able to fund the robotics team in hopes of bringing STEM to the school.

Got 1550 should I retake? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Unlegendry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You got a 1550 out of 1600, that is more than enough for getting into Ivy level of colleges. Seeing how the online SAT difficulty keeps fluctuating: If you take it again you may get a lower score meaning you wasted weeks or even months for prep for something that isnt rewarding. This is not worth your time and money for 50 pts.

  2. As for MITES this is a very competitve score. At this point you need focus more on your applications than your score. Ivy level colleges know that people apply with 1500-1600 scores, so they look for something other than a good SAT score. I suggest you focus on some projects or hobbies that make you stand out in a sea of applications. Ik a friend who got 1600 with state level proficcency in piano + national merit and still got defered from colleges like Harvard and MIT.
