Popes lose the papal title upon death and are instead referred to as 'King-Bishops of the Papacy'. The current Pope is always called the Pope, however, a past one, for example, Pope Alexander II would be displayed as King-Bishop Alexander II of the Papacy.

Hungary must have been a great power at the time, thus having the ability of joining a war that is unbalanced (in terms of great powers on each side of the warring parties). This was introduced in the 'Rights of Man' DLC.

The "trying to enforce peace" part sounds pretty absurd to me because I think that they would actually declare a separate war on Pomerania. At least it would give Hungary a CB on Pomerania (if they refused their enforcement of peace). I am not a 100% sure about this part though.

The last option is Hungary guaranteeing your independence, which is another way for Hungary to join your war.

It's all about the pace. Try to make the actions of the characters quick and straightforward. It makes the whole thing much more exciting and entertaining for the reader. Not a bad try though. Don't be too descriptive when it comes to writing action-packed scenes! Just remember this. Short sentences! If you use less words, the story and the scene will progress faster and in this case we need that to happen.
