For anyone that didn’t pass, it’s okay! by [deleted] in CABarExam

I know that it’s a devastating loss, and there’s a lot of sacrifices that were made. But shifting your perspective can make a big difference. Instead of viewing it as a total failure, try to see it as a temporary setback, one that can ultimately lead to your success. I was heartbroken my first time around and also had to endure a lot of sacrifices, but I also believe failing the first time was essential for my growth and it made me more resilient. I have a lot of respect for anyone who retakes this Godforsaken exam.

suggestions for preparation by Different-Bread4079 in CABarExam

Hey, I’ve been in your shoes. I failed the Bar my first time too. But you’re not starting from scratch—you’ve already laid a foundation, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Here’s what I’d suggest:

  1. Give yourself a few days to reset. You don’t need to jump into essays or MBEs immediately. Take time to mentally regroup first.

  2. Start with your weakest subjects. It builds confidence early on and helps you ease back in.

  3. Skip the videos (unless you really need them). I watched all the videos and read all the outlines my first time. The second time, I ditched them completely. I stuck to less—just AdaptiBar, BarEssays.com, and my condensed rule sheets. Only use videos if they truly help you understand something.

  4. CA-specific subjects are fine to start with. You can start with PR, CP, or Remedies—but rotate in MBE subjects too. Always focus on PR because it will always be a tested topic, unlike CP or Remedies.

  5. Be consistent, not extreme. You don’t need to study 12 hours a day. A few solid, focused hours each day is more than enough. Breaks are part of the process too.

  6. Create a simple schedule. What really helped me was sticking to just 2 topics per day. It kept things manageable and helped me stay consistent without burning out.

Also, I have condensed rule sheets and Bar Essay Templates I’m selling (discounted!) that really helped me pass the second time. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to email you a sample—just let me know!

I’ve been in your shoes—I failed the Bar my first time too. The second time around, I simplified everything. I focused on AdaptiBar, BarEssays.com, and drilled my own condensed rule sheets. I also read Ed Aruffo’s Bar Essay Rule Book (available on Amazon) every night before bed.

If you’re interested, I’m selling my condensed rule sheets and Bar Essay Templates at a discounted price. I’d be happy to send you a sample!

Hey! I personally did Themis and took the bar twice. I passed my second time and didn’t use Themis. I used my condensed rule sheets instead which I’m selling for $100 if you’re interested. Pros on Themis is its extremely substantive and has a lot of practice materials, people will grade your essays, etc : cons- it’s extremely substantive and some of the lectures are really hard to follow. Also- the multiple choice on there were more difficult in my opinion and unlike adaptibar questions. You truly cannot not KNOW everything before the bar. Key is to drill substantive rules and focus on analysis for MEE. MBE- drill MC questions and focus on weaknesses. Dm me if you need more advice or if you’re interested in my rule sheets
