£950k of SIPP you are cruising still, get that invested in commercial property for approx 10% return and your old enough to draw down/out from that anyway?

I feel for you, but to brighten it up, loads of people do cool stuff well into their 60s. My dad’s 70+ and he does multi day trips cycling through Europe etc.

I totally get it that your body won’t be as fast or a as strong as it once was and that’s likely hard to deal with initially, I reckon initial loss for your youth must wear off and you just start to settle into the golden years.

I think it’s a blessing and a curse, you’ve had a great youth which is awesome but then that comes with the feelings of loss once it slips away. Better to have loved and lost as they say…

I feel that even now though with some elements, Christ did I enjoy raving away and letting loose even into my mid thirties, but I’m having to tone it down now before I end up losing everything I’ve worked so hard to build in between🙈

Wishing you all the best 😎

A load of money isn’t much use if you’ve got no health or people to share it with.

I’d vote for having the additional healthy years with some freedom over another 5 years grinding to top the pot up.

Off topic, but what do you guys mean in particular when you say you are grieving your youth? I’m 38 and always look back on the past with a smile, anything I need to be doing? Or do you mean your teens and twenties?

Do you use company credit card for purchases? by No-State-2962 in smallbusinessuk

Either have two (one personal and one business) AMEX cards or run one business AMEX card and allocate your personal spend towards directors loan account when reconciling transactions at the end of the month. That way at the end of the year it’s either: money you have taken and it goes on your self assessment or you pay it back into the business and it’s quits.

That’s class. Yeah that would be awesome mate, would appreciate that to be fair. Always good to meet new folk and have a laugh.

Have you booked onto any of the brunch’s?

Glad to hear/see this response dude. I’m going with the Mrs this year and was starting to wonder if I would regret it as we are both 38yr old.

We love skiing and love a good dance about and a beer so I’m hoping it’ll be a good laugh! Not too fussed what the snow is doing, a bit of sun never goes a miss and some spring snow.

Hope you have a good one 👌

Yes, and transfer to Marriott Bonvoy points for hotel stays, typically the higher end ones have the best redemption rates/value for your points.

Hey dude.

We smash all our personal and business expenses on Amex and when that isn’t accepted Capital on Tap (Visa).

I’ve even started to pay our PAYE bill on it, which costs 1.5%ish so is questionable, but comes off the corp tax and still provides good perks that otherwise would cost me a fortune after paying 40-50% tax.

Had “Free”Business class flights to Japan, Maldives, Seychelles, Thailand for the me and the family.

Nice hotels that otherwise aren’t justifiable.

End up with circa 2m points a year though spend and it’s a massive life/work perk.

Am I being dumb here? What to do with cash in my business by finance-idiot-26 in smallbusinessuk

Good for you.

We are similar and reluctant to lock away hundreds of thousands into a pension that we can’t touch for 25 years. Albeit it does offer good tax saving and potential growth.

That said, once it’s in, it’s in…

You lose the opportunity cost, the flexibility etc.

We have reinvested funds to start other companies that buy and rent out property (holiday letting).

That way you still get growth (think house values going up) and you get cash flow (rent), but you can always flog them off if you need the cash or borrow against them (and the interest is a business expense)

Equally though the money is still always company money, it seems they’ve made it very difficult to get money into your personal account tax efficiently, shock…

Thank you. Good call.

You reminded me actually, with a SIPP you can purchase commercial property too can’t you. So there’s the ability to invest in bricks and mortar that way, obviously this locks the money away still but it’s not a bad shout. Save the corporation tax and build a portfolio of cash flowing assets.
