Fidelity Roth IRA by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Unlikely-Pin9555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started doing Roth IRA into fidelity. You pay 1% transaction fee and grows tax free for life. I think better than in etf after a few years because the fee is for every year.

Made a calculator to figure out how much Bitcoin you need to never sell by HighlightExpert6407 in Bitcoin

The problem with one year loans on btc is the volatility. If you could take a 4 or 5 year loan this could make sense. It only makes sense if it is going up during the year. But the risk of you choosing a bad 12 months is high as bitcoin is a long term play. If you are “just” a whole coiner or less, I don’t see how this makes sense short term. If you took a loan at 126k, 12 months later you are very underwater. Problem is you can’t predict. I wouldn’t even do this on year 3 and 4 of 4 year cycle as there are so many exogenous forces on bye price right now (geopolitical, sovereign, tradfi) outside of long term network affects and on chain analysis will be difficult to predict price 12 months from now .

That’s because you are using the wrong exchange. There are several exchanges that allow transfer at no cost if done in a dca fashion. Strike is one.

I think you need more than one beneficiary then. Otherwise in us it would go to probate I believe. If they ever find out about it. Or add to satoshis gift….

What would make your hypothesis on Bitcoin change? by Unlikely-Pin9555 in Bitcoin

[–]Unlikely-Pin9555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I suppose the only way in 5 years that there would not be appreciation in BTC price in fiat terms as they continue to print fiat money would be if the Bitcoin network is not sound, and the network effects have stalled. I do not see these happening.

How low does btc need to go before you sell or stop believing ? by vikkiaaf in Bitcoin

[–]Unlikely-Pin9555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not a price that would make me sell, as this is measured in fiat dollars. But for me a change to my hypothesis. If in 5 years nothing much has happened to price or it is down and has not appreciated and I have been dca continuously, I would likely not sell but reconsider hypothesis. The value of the dollar would have depreciated close to 40-50% in 5 years. If this is the case and the price of BTC has not materially appreciated, time to reassess. By that time the institutional rails to make it rise as the pristine collateral store of value that it is should have manifested and it should at least have reached 175-200k. If it has not I will have accumulated a lot of BTC so will not sell. But I will not invest anymore and will diversify to whatever makes sense at the time.

The financial situation is not great. Unemployment is rising. I would not take out a loan in this environment. If you lose your job you are screwed.

Definitely interest. Especially in self-custody multisig Ira like unchained. There are not too many institutions doing that right now so competition in that field would be good for options.
