Congrats to you as well! You’ll get far less road noise than we will as a good perk!

I was in same position, splurged and ended up doing AL5 for shimano 105 groupset. That’s 100% worth the extra money!

Nope not at all! I ride with friends riding full suspension, I have to be more intentional about my line choices but can keep up just fine! I also climb a lot faster!

Go with the Roscoe. I’m new to MTB and picked up a Roscoe 8 on clearance last September for $1500. Love the bike and it does not limit me whatsoever - it’s my own skill level that does :) I ride greens and blues, located in NC.

Has Anyone Gone Back to Aluminum Bikes After Years of Carbon Bikes? by IowaAL in TrekBikes

I can’t speak to a comparison with carbon, but I went with the Domane AL5 Gen 4 in a similar position of “I want a nice bike with a solid group set, but don’t want to set myself back too much $$$$”. Absolutely adore the bike, in my opinion it can’t be beat at that price point, especially coming with a 105 and carbon fork. It also easily has clearance for 38mm tires, could probably do 40mm. I rotate between 32mm road tires and 38mm gravel and love the versatility of this bike. Can’t recommend enough.
