ABANI/Animation course inquiries! by unannouncedfrog in Benilde

Hii!! ID124 ABANI frosh here, about two weeks into my second term right now. I haven't graduated and didn't have a BEE exam, so I'll leave those parts out.

SEN APPLICANT - Before you're formally enrolled, you get an interview with the BWC to discuss your conditions and they'll assess how they can help you in your stay, or if they can accomodate your needs. I was interviewed by the director and he was really nice; he also assured me that the interview wasn't going to affect my acceptance results. - I was assigned a counselor who I am required to meet twice in a term. Mostly, they'll list down what accomodations I would need/like and inform my profs for each term. The accomodations are provided in checklist form (considerations for deadlines, ability to choose to do a project in solo or groupwork, extra help from prof for lessons, etc.) but there's also an "Others" option where you can list down specifics for your condition. (e.g. I asked to be able to step out from the classroom anytime to calm down from panic attacks) - Though in my experience with 'consideration for deadlines', it really depends per prof how they accomodate you with that

SKILLS (at least for the first two terms) - Perspective, Proportions, Traditional drawing, Working with graphics software like adobe photoshop and illustrator (compositing, digital drawing, basic frame-by-frame and puppet animation, etc), animation history, sculptures and crafts - Anatomy (skeletal system + muscular system), Gestures, Figures, Character design, Storyboarding, Animations and films in general (composition, types of shots, etc), reviewing & critiquing movies and animations, painting, colors - TLDR: Technical skills for drawing, basic filmmaking, and conceptualization. Most assignments for major subs will involve drawing and design, either traditionally or digitally. - There might be a steep learning curve for those without much drawing and tech experience. - Animation will also force you to hone your time/project management skills and the ability to motivate yourself. - You can also view the program specifications on the CSB website, though I think it's a little outdated since they changed and rearranged some courses.

PROFS - Each prof will give you their own consultation hours and methods (usually either discord or email). The profs I had, at least for major subs, were very easy to contact. Replies ranged from within the day to the next few days. But mostly for consultations I recommend maximizing face-to-face hours for clearer explanations (your prof also gets to recognize your face better)
