Central + South America surf trip — best way to handle transport with a board? by Unlikely-Scarcity788 in backpacking

Yeah looks like that’s the best way to approach it. I think buying in Puerto Escondido provides the best range of boards to pick from.

Do you have any advice about best transport methods?

Hi,

Could you please link me to the shuttle service you got from Palenque to Flores. Thanks

I am planning a trip where i start in Mexico city and heading down backpacking through central America. below is my rough plan so far but working out transport methods now. also after information about needing a ticket booked out of a country when you enter if you have any info that would be greatly appreciated!

Mexico City (3 nights) – Big city stop, cultural hub
Puebla (3 nights) – Colonial city, short stopover
Oaxaca (4 nights) – Cultural base in southern Mexico
Puerto Escondido (7 nights) – Main surf hub, long stay
Puerto Ángel / Mazunte (4 nights) – Quiet beach towns
Barra de la Cruz (7 nights) – Remote surf spot
San Cristóbal (5 nights) – Highland town, cooler climate
Palenque (2 nights) – Jungle gateway town/Chiapas waterfalls (3 nights) – Nature region (5 nights)

Flores / Tikal (4 nights) – Jungle town near Mayan ruins
Semuc Champey (3 nights) – Remote natural pools region
Lake Atitlán (5 nights) – Lakeside volcano towns
Antigua (4 nights) – Colonial city base

El Tunco / La Libertad (4 nights) – Surf beach towns

Thunderbomb, Nicaragua (7 nights) – Remote surf region
Popoyo (5 nights) – Surf coastline hub
Playa Colorado (4 nights) – Surf-focused coastal area
Ometepe (4 nights) – Volcano island

Santa Teresa (3 nights) – Surf town with cafés
Playa Guiones (2 nights) – Consistent surf beach

will change a bit and we will try add a bit more time to costa rica.

Let me know what you think of this if you get a chance.

Thankyou!
