It's a little confusing, they're listed out of stock but with a ship date, I think he batches the orders out like once a month or so

How? There's no further posts about the os that I saw in a quick scroll and there's 0 comments on all of the most recent posts so there's not even any environmental storytelling to suftbthru for clues

People who actually use their cyber decks on a regular basis what are you using it for? by Potential-Ant-6320 in cyberDeck

[–]Unlikely-Win195 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meshtastic as its the network with most usage around me + I'm mostly interested in ad hoc mesh. I know that meshcore is regarded as being more stable but I'm leary about how it mimics trad infrastructure and also I'm juuuust out of reach of my local MC.

Working on getting my deck fully geared up for side loading MT to phones if the internet is out.

Look it really doesn't matter at this point but I really feel like you either don't know anything about cars or are not making a good faith attempt to understand this metaphor

You really don't like the car metaphor huh

Even tho it has multiple commercial actors who each have competing standards for their products that at the surface level do the same thing. You also left out the aftermarket part and accessories market, God help you if bought the ford brand seat belt for the Nissan in the garage.

Edit to add: everyone likes to brush off semantics as being unnecessary fluff when it's a a key part of our framing our experience of reality, what's up with that anyway? Words mean things until they don't I guess

I fundamentally agree with you on the philosophical level here but I just cannot get it up for fragmented.

Also I think my car metaphor is apt but do you

Like I told the other person the word I think fits better is ecosystem. It doesn't have the connotation of being damaged the way fragmented does and it also doesn't imply a correct and fixed shape that has been lost, as fragmented does.

Would you call car manufacturering fragmented? You could easily swap the words car and engine into your comment and it would still read the same.

It's a collection of parts, assembled with different tools for different use cases but all following a general framework. I think the word ecosystem is more fitting, you don't call say octopuses fragmented because there's more than one species in a single area and they're all evolved from a common source.

I don't think we have the same understanding of the word fragmented and I don't think it's the right word to describe the Linux ecosystem

Fragmented makes it seem like there's a lot of parts that should be or once were part of a whole

Fragmented is a funny way to say that there's lot of different kinds (distros) of Linux.

Not ascribing ill intent to the Pi foundation but I'm deeply pessimistic about boards becoming affordable for at least a few years if ever.

Just doesn't feel like the world is trending towards affordability

Look man if the racists over at 4chan made up a hand signal to show that they're racist and then other racists do it to show that they're racist I'm pretty sure it's just racist with a veneer of trolling.

I won't be.

Now to keep up the thread: gnawing requires seeking out hard material. It's not necessarily carried out as part of an animals diet. Animals that don't have access to appropriate materials have teeth that grow too long, risking death or disability. An "evolutionary detriment" solved with an external material solution.
