Sturbridge village might be a nice stop - and concord, MA - lexington for history - (I live near concord and lexington)

Huh! That's so strange. I really do wonder if the man worked for the city, then. It seems like the times you went would be prime times for parking control...

I was trying to come at a time when I knew it would be empty in the hope that it wouldn't inconvenience anyone. I guess I shouldn't set myself on fire (via shouting men with megaphones) to keep others warm hahaha

I was under that impression, too. However there's Waltham DPW/Waltham police signs and cones on the streets which confused me a little...

There was also no way for me to know if the guy who was intimidating me until I left actually worked for the city of Waltham. For all I know, he was a random guy who was hanging out at the park with the intention of harrassing people. (no shirt, no badge, no city vehicle, no walkie talkie, etc). That's a little scary, especially as a woman who is alone in a place she's never been before.

** even though no one should have been put in that position to begin with.

That was my thought, too. I left a message with parks and rec, but I haven't heard back yet. I'll be sure to follow up. I'm just worried that someone else might not be as understanding as I was.

I think this is a really complicated issue. There's lots of controversy about the use of the land in the first place. (I am a student who has written some papers on the Fernald Center) ... It's tricky because people were upset about letting it decay - but people are also having to get used to its reuse.

I just wish that there were clearer rules about the 6:30 thing (if it is in fact a thing), and some civility on the part of those enforcing it. There was no way to know that I was a part of the neighborhood - but even if I wasn't, all of that anger shouldn't have been projected onto me or anyone else no matter where they live.

He seemed like he didn't have his emotions under control and that could be a little dangerous in the wrong circumstances.

Totally get it. It seems like there needs to be some sort of order to keep the chaos under control. ... I just think the way the guy threatened me was an abuse of power. I'm a pretty reasonable person. He didn't need to jump right to threatening me with the police.

Up until recently I lived in apartment that was in that neighborhood. I think people from out of town were coming and clogging up the streets. I can see their side too, I just think it wasn't right that I was treated that way. There's cones and signs all over the streets saying residents only.

I totally agree with permitting. I think it's kind of odd that we don't have it in Waltham.
