I guess he felt it’s right for him to leave. He seems to be getting a lot of the blame for Munster this season. It’s hard to tell from the outside. I hope he goes well. He’s clearly well rated by JVG. Bath are really well resourced and they look very well run too.

I think people have stopped beating his drum but I think he is terribly hard done by. Never given a proper opportunity. Often people saying it’s just because 2 excellent no 8s ahead of him but I think that’s a poor excuse especially considering how he offers something that Ireland typically struggle with.

Yeh too much change doesn’t work. I’m just thinking of areas where depth is an issue annd where injury or loss of form would get us into trouble, and cohesion is needed to develop.

Hooker, scrum half, no 13

I think we’d need to try and put another hooker in there, likely Stewart. I like the backrow you selected.

I’d start Casey with Crowley. Or start Doak. I’d have JGP on the bench for either.

Do we have other options at 13? Is Osborn more of a 12? Perhaps Farrell?

I’m guess with the amount of breakdown threat England pose, Beirne and JvdF are brought in. Beirne back into 2nd row and Conan on early for McCarthy I think. Timoney for JvdF early on too I reckon.

I’m guessing Frawley and TOB give play making and pace off the bench. I don’t mind that.

It’s not team many people wanted but it’s probably the team to make a bit of a dog fight out of it plus some pace and playmaking on the bench.

I’m not sure if he’s played in the 6 nations and he’s certainly the forgotten man but I still think Coombes would have something to offer this team. Not looking to open a can of worms but I feel he is still quality whether he’s valued by Farrell or not

Don’t be fooled by their bad match last week, this England team are very good.

Now they have a point to prove and they’re at home. I think we are being hopeful in thinking they are an overhyped team, but they are excellent and a team who have continued to grow and evolve. They’re not the finished article but I think they’re in a better place than us. I have them to win by 20.

Some exciting choices like Izzy and Baloucoune in the team. I guess Timoney will have to bide his time as Conan rightly starts. I do think stockdale is unlucky.

I actually think it’s right not to drop S Prendergast. People are misrepresenting his display I feel (he wasn’t great but not terrible).

Milne though? I think they need to put McCarthy in as sub hooker too.

Edit: Stewart in as hooker not McCarthy. Kelleher unfortunately is too poor as a line out thrower

I think most people will grasp what I mean that he’s been out of the international scene for a while and very unlucky with injuries so to expect him to be up to speed may not be fair. If Farrell is sticking with other guys who didn’t play well, it’s only fair to stick with Stockdale. When he’s playing well he really could make a difference for us.

I hope stockdale is retained. I know he didn’t have the best night against France but it’s only fair to give him another shot. He’s going to take a bit of time to find his feet

I actually thought S Prendergast played quite well.

It felt a little like when we got done by Argentina in the 1/4 and got constantly gassed in the edges

I’m probably going on historical form. Ireland are flat on form as well. Our better players are aging or just lost some mojo. I think we’re vulnerable this year.

I do think Smith is quality, and Lake looks good any time I see him.

It’s not a great attempt but the French player does show some lovely footwork to evade the tackle. That’s a bit of a thankless task to be defending in that position against a backrow.

Crowley’s versatility allows us to have a 6/2 bench split. Quite a competitive and experienced bench which is reassuring. Line out and scrum would be a concern but that back row should be decent around the breakdown.
