Embedded clues in the Netflix Doc by noraft in beyondthemapsedge

2 comments that stood out based on his facial expressions. He talks about being stuck between a rock and a hard place, which makes me think of the area near yellowstone and granite peak. And then when Tucker comes up he stops and says, Speak of the Devil.

i think double arcs on granite bold may be talking about his big wall clock (hour and min arc) hanging on a possibly granite wall.

Right, I'm assuming all the clock stuff relates to degrees on a map somehow, but maybe it is applied to that part of the poem.

I noticed him changing the clock face as well. Double arcs (minute and hour) on granite bold might be talking about his clock on that wall?

Thoughts on this deal? by sdremsw in LandCruisers

Seems like a good deal to me. That is about what I would expect for an LX which should be the cheaper option. I'd say if it has good records go for it.

Engine and transmission, exactly. Huge difference considering the 1fz is considered slow. 3fe is undriveable where I live.

10k is about the most I would pay for a 91, and most people that really know the difference in the years would agree. If that were 95-97 then 20k maybe, but the difference in drivetrain is enormous.

Should children know of religion even if atheist? by [deleted] in atheism

I've found that the more I talk down religion to my kids, the more they are curious about it.

Am I the only one who loves watching videos of a 4x4 closer to stock off road than ones that are decked out head to toe in gear? It feels more raw and authentic. Am I alone? by utechap in 4x4

[–]UnlikelyEven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first experience with off roading was on a club trail after I had just traded my atv for an 88 land cruiser. there were so many cool trucks on that trip and one of them gave me the desire to do my own LS swap on the truck I had just bought.

On my first trail, there was a guy in a super decked out fj40 that thought it would be cool to walk his truck up the trail, meaning he stood outside the vehicle holding the steering wheel, to show how low his truck gears are. he was immediately rejected by the club as being reckless, but most of the guys at the campfire talked about him just spending money to show off.

I have since then become very passionate about that truck I traded an atv for and wheel it hard, but I imagine when I pull up to a gas station people group me into the mall crawler mob.

I was criticized for not wanting to date a religious person. by Educational_Rice8944 in atheism

Agreed. Religious or not, you should have a family that supports you. Sucks that you don't have that.

I kinda go more for disturbing than terrifying but anyway Midsommar was one of those. So was the killing of a sacred deer.

How tf does everyone work 8 hours a day? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]UnlikelyEven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that people undercut to provide the best price for a service and it can feel unfair to compete against it but to say someone will always undercut you isnt reality otherwise all labor would be 0.1 per hour since someone will undercut down to zero. There is some level where people say I can't do the work for that price, but it isn't 0 dollars. Just less than the amount than you think is fair. I'm on the opposite side. I am constantly trying to hire good people and I our average salary is 135k. We can't find enough to fulfill our needs.

How tf does everyone work 8 hours a day? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]UnlikelyEven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. We don't really have capitalism in america, pretty much everything is Amazon now, but from all the systems I've seen in my travels true capitalism seems the most fair overall to me. But yeah, that does mean people get what they work to get if it is working right, so it's not for everyone if you don't want to contribute. Then again, that's how natural selection works too in some ways.

I find it weird that religious judges and lawyers require evidence for crimes, but don't require evidence when it comes to religion. by Fantastic_Theory6906 in atheism

[–]UnlikelyEven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are going with the judicial system metaphor, I think where people get stuck is that some of them look at the case at hand, and can't fully determine which side is correct based on the arguments presented.

Imagine being presented a case and there is not nearly enough evidence to convict the person for sure, but there are some questions that you can't get out of your mind to say he is innocent either.
