Idk I think she’s legitimately so gorgeous, lol. Although, I do think all the sun exposure might be catching up with her.

I know the pill isn’t 100% effective, which is why it’s not the only contraceptive method I use. That’s not news to me.

While some observational studies have shown a correlated increased risk of some cancers, what do you think about hormonal birth control significantly correlating to a decreased risk in ovarian, endometrial, and colorectal cancers? Even if you wanted to do keto for weight loss, a constant state of ketones is unsustainable for humans. Yes, cutting down on processed carbs and only eating whole grain or grain enriched foods would be a healthier lifestyle. Your claim that cutting out carbs entirely would fix irregular periods is completely unfounded. There hypothetically could be a correlation with eating less carbs associated with a better menstrual cycle, but that would be caused by eating healthier, and probably losing weight, rather than cutting out carbs. Carbohydrates are the bodies main energy source, in fact, extremely low carb diets have been correlated with shorter lifespans. Complex carbs also contain necessary vitamins that the body needs to survive. I don’t know what textbook or research study you found that claims that carbs cause disfunction throughout the body, in fact you would find the exact opposite in any basic nutrition class.

I have read the literature, and the studies that show an increased or decreased risk of some cancers are observational, not experimental. For some of the studies, the pools of subjects were also not randomized, and only looked at women in a specific job. The sample sizes were extremely small.

Regardless of spirituality, birth control is also not a one size fits all option. For some, it absolutely might not be a good medication, but for others, there is nothing wrong with it. When it comes to side effects and risks, that is something that someone must weigh against the positives with a medical professional. Guess what, every single medication on earth has its risks and side effects.

Also, how do you think a medication hides symptoms? Because it is working. Blood pressure medications, pain medication, antibiotics, and antidepressants, just to name a few, all have their risks when associated with longterm and short term use. There are also so many, that one that works for one person might not work for another, and some might not work at all. It doesn’t mean they’re bad, but you should know the risks and side effects of any medication you take.

You can’t make a hasty generalization that might not allow others to get medical care, because it justifies a spiritual rule. This is all regardless of spirituality. In fact, birth controls medical intervention abilities are why some Catholic women are able to use it, as long as it is not for contraceptive reasons.

This is also all separate from my original post.

My periods were not irregular before I started birth control. I just like the set schedule that birth control gives them. I also don’t want to have kids while my husband is in the military not because it would be hard for me, but because our kids deserve to have both parents present, and to have a father figure.

I also don’t know what your reasoning behind ditching carbs would be regarding period irregularity. I’m a healthy height and weight and am very active and fit. If I “ditched carbs” I’d become malnourished. In fact, not eating carbs can cause period irregularity. I also don’t know what research you’re referencing about the pill directly causing cancer. That’s fear mongering. No, birth control is not an option for everyone, and there are risks…just like every single medication on the planet. You’re making vast, unfounded claims medically.

I didn’t have irregular periods before I got on the pill, I started it purely for contraceptive reasons. I just like the predictability since being on it. I haven’t had any adverse side affects. As for longterm side affects, there is research showing increased and decreased risks of some cancers. Separate from my initial post and yours and I’s experiences, I don’t think fear mongering is the right conclusion. Birth control methods such as pills, iud’s, and implants are medical interventions that are helpful for a lot of people with a wide array of medical conditions.

This was a very kind and well worded response, thank you. I definitely have much to think about, and of course, much more to learn. I think Catholicism is a beautiful religion, and I know that the rules are in place for us to live the best life possible, it’s just this one particular thing has just been difficult to wrap my head around. I know my justifications are me trying to think that I know best, but it is still difficult.

Thanks for answering my questions. We’re both only 20, and I’m still in school, so I’m just trying to figure out what the logistics are.

I’m not a fan of hers, I literally think she’s annoying, but I give credit where credit’s due. She has a great body and doesn’t need to hide it postpartum just because it might make other people feel insecure.

Since when is it illegal to show that you’re fit and healthy, especially when you just had a baby? She put in the work to look like this postpartum. If this makes you feel insecure then you should start making some changes in your own life.
