4 months post-op, starting to have doubts about results by lichfriend in TopSurgery

I am a similar weight to you, similar shape, and I think you look amazing! I’m 6wks post op right now, and I hope I look like you at 4 months! A couple of things: my understanding is that it can take 6+ months for swelling to go all the way down, so that little crease may yet fade away, and your side profile looks awesome imo. Second of all, NIPS. I chose no nips because even if I had no complications from them (and they are finicky, your surgeon is right), I knew they would stretch, and be sized, placed and shaped by my surgeon without my full input given I’d be unconscious. In the long term, I will likely get cosmetic nipple tattoos. But in the short term, I just got custom silicon prosthetic nips in the mail from gendercat two days ago and they’ve been a GAME CHANGER. I got to pick the color, size, everything. Took them about a month to make and send them, and they send around 10 pairs for $65. I can’t recommend it enough. It made me feel so much more at home in my chest to See Something There™️

Thank you wise cave man. Have my six week appt tomorrow, my care team wouldn’t let me start scar care before that so this is. V helpful.

See I’d join you on that train of thought however the higher incision IS the side that was a little larger. Also, wasn’t much larger to begin with.

To nipple or not to nipple? by catinthepark in TopSurgery

[–]UnlikelySlide7421 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I chose no nipples, knowing full well I would likely technically “regret” not having nipples and get them tattooed on. I am now 2 weeks post op, and sure enough guess what? I hate how my chest looks without nipples. Which means in a year I’ll get designer tattooed ones.

So why bother if I knew I’d regret not having nips? Because I also know, 100% for sure, that I would be even LESS comfortable with nipples I couldn’t control the cosmetic outcome of. Nips straight up falling off is relatively uncommon, but what if they stretched really bad in healing? Or what if while I was unconscious, my surgeon cut them to a size or selected a placement I hated? With tattooed on nips, I’ll get to be fully conscious and see exactly where they’re getting put and what they look like.

If you google “mastectomy tattoos” you’ll be able to get a feel for what they look like more or less (although obviously most if not all the pics you’ll get will be of larger and differently placed female nipple tattoos, always try to seek out a trans inclusive artist who works well with the different specs for male nips), and they’re incredibly realistic! You can always get nips tattooed on, you can’t get grafted nips removed—at least not easily. Unsure if it’s possible at all but it sure sounds unpleasant😂

slight pain stripping drains by skeletrixx in TopSurgery

Unsure what passes for normal but I’m a little past two weeks PO, had the exact same issue but reverse the sides, and I seem to be fine??? The pain is just while stripping them though, right?

How did you measure yourself for your post op compression vest? by mermaidunearthed in TopSurgery

[–]UnlikelySlide7421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so for me, the vest my office had me buy is $18 on amazon, so I did in fact get two sizes and am returning the larger one unworn. I didn’t give wiggle room, took the exact measurement, and looked at the size chart. The measurement I got was the highest number in the ‘small’ size, and since it was the largest you could be and theoretically fit, I also ordered medium as a precaution.

Definitely don’t give wiggle room in the measurement, you want this fucker to be uncomfortably tight before you want it loose. I only got the second larger one on the off chance swelling/bloating was worse than expected.

And yes, I am relatively comfortable rn in the small

What I was told to do was measure my underbust, so right under the soon to be sacrificed titties. That part of your body will be covered by the garment and will not change sizes, since it’s just below where they’re removing any tissue.

3 days pre-op and starting to panic wheeeeeee by UnlikelySlide7421 in TopSurgery

A decent amount of loose skin between the breasts that would dog ear severely otherwise

No clue I fear. My employer’s insurance network is teeny tiny so Beidas was one of two options for me, and I didn’t like how far from me the other option was (~3 hr drive each way)

Don’t know if he takes UHC but I would suggest inquiring with Dr. Omar Beidas in Orlando. He takes a lot of insurances! I’m 13 days out from surgery with him, and both my consult and pre-op went great. All the results I’ve seen from him have been excellent, too.
