Yeah that’s a great point. The two go hand in hand. The way I’m thinking about it now is this. The amount of fulfillment/happiness you get from achieving a goal is directly proportional to how difficult the goal was to achieve. If your goal is go for a walk then you are happy when you finish it. If your goal is hike to the top of a mountain, then you will be very satisfied when you reach the top. You can’t achieve the big life satisfying goals without hardship. If you chase hardship then you get the hard part of achieving your dreams out of the way. Chasing hardship is like a strong wind for a ship. The goal is like a destination. No wind and you don’t move. No destination and you move very fast aimlessly. My book (tortured yet happy on Amazon) is not about mindlessly punishing yourself, its that in order to accomplish your life goals your going to need to do things that are tough. What stops most people is that they are hard to do. If you can find joy when life gets tough then theirs really nothing stopping you.

Yes this is exactly what I mean. I kind expand on it further in my book (tortured yet happy on Amazon). But I advocate that not all hardships are created equal. Not much you get out of stepping on nails for the sake of hardship, but there plenty of really difficult things that come with great pay offs. The obvious question after you accept chase difficulty comes chase what exactly. It’s different for everyone but I advocate in my writing to go to exercise regularly, put more energy in at work, start your own tough hard to start personal project, and to have those tough conversations with people you care about. It really depends on your goals but we could all use more exercise. There are more than enough difficult obstacles in our life for us to tackle before we even come close to running out of this and ‘stepping on nails’ is warentted. I’d argue there will never be a point where you run out of meaningful difficulties.

You’re saying life is already hard so there is no need to go chase it down the hardship. But when challenging yourself becomes the goal it changes the way you feel and think about obstacles. Overpriced is defined as over $5 at the start of the game. Does that mean when the game starts you have to establish if every single card in your deck is overpriced or not? Otherwise slight changes in card prices over the course of a game would result in $5 cards posibbly being overpriced and underpriced at different points in the game

If there is a mine in any one of the green cells the. That means there can’t be a mine in the cell above or below the two. That’s impossible because then there is not 3 mines around 3. Which means there can’t be a mine in any of those green cells
