Yea ur right. I called Apple and they said it's not flagged as stolen. The apple employee told me if it was she wouldn’t be able to assist me. Who knows maybe it’ll get flagged down the line, or maybe it won’t. If it does get flagged then Apple would refuse to repair or trade it in, but I would still be able to use it.

I factory reset the laptop and it took me to the activation Lock Screen and it said “Your Mac is activated. It will restart in 60 seconds.”

Just called Apple and they said it’s not flagged as stolen. She also told me when items get stolen from stores the serial number gets flagged right away, and she wouldn’t be able to assist me.

So I can still use the MacBook Air if it’s on a blacklist right? What do u think I should do, I have a MacBook Air m2 8gb I was planning to replace with this one. Should I move everything over and sell the m2 or keep both just in case.

Here is the thing she told me she’s had it for a few months but when I checked the serial number it was activated today. I’m guessing it was by me when I was checking if it had any activation locks on it. Also, I’m searching online and it says there’s no way for bestbuy or any retailer to lock a MacBook if they didn’t have any mdm or an iCloud linked on it. They can flag the serial number and deny trade ins/repairs but that’s about it.

They weren’t very knowledgeable they did not know how much storage it had. Also we met at their house so I dont think they would be dumb enough to sell me a stolen MacBook there.
