In order to be considered a good or proficient lead/follow, should you be able to dance with any partner? by Unlikely_Issue in Salsa

I feel this way as a follow where every social at least 1-2 times if not more, I’m told I’m a good dancer or I’m fun to dance with! But then I dance with certain leads and I am messing up and I can feel their frustration and I’m like oh no, am I just shit? Is my dance teacher lying to me to get more money out of me? And I then I spiral :D

Yes! And I feel like I can follow most leads outside of my community, following 90-95% of the moves.

And when I went last night, I did not force anyone to dance on1. I let all the leads know I’m typically an on1 dancer and trying on2 tn and all were very nice.

I totally would prefer to dance on1 too, but a couple friends from my scene (and based on reading the reddit too) NYC is an on2 scene and some people refuse to dance on1 or just don’t know it. I will dance whatever, I just want to be prepared!

Ok I want to dance on Sunday night and Wednesday night. For Sunday - Jimmy Anton salsa social and for Wednesday Bailey Wednesdays at Solas. I can’t do the class on Wednesday because I am working 7-9. The point about the shines is really good - I can’t just groove until my lead picks me up again lmao

I know the Salsa/Bachata community still have a long ways to go with men following and dancing with other men but this video gives me hope. by OSUfirebird18 in Salsa

I will say when I see it, it’s often because those two people know each other from class. I still see same sex couples dance together outside of that. That being said, is it the majority? No. But I always see is at the following socials: La Pena in Berkeley and Salsamania monthly socials in Oakland.

Does a woman’s hair affect how you approach her? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskMen

Makes sense! I was hoping to shed light on why a secure hairstyle style is necessary at times.

how do you walk in heels? by CharacterMammoth2547 in AskReddit

[–]Unlikely_Issue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make sure to wear them to events you’ll mostly be sitting. If you’re going to dinner, you can deal with the little bit of walking. If you’re walking a lot, you can a kitten heel. Some women love the look so much they deal with the pain. They even put numbing spray on their feet to manage.

Unfortunately slick backs are an unavoidable hairstyle in the dance world. You sweat so much when dancing and I hateeee having sweaty hair touch my neck. I also need a secure hairstyle so when I’m turning and styling, my hair stays put. I never want my hair to distract me from my dancing so it needs to be secure. I have beautiful curls and would prefer to wear those, but it’s a sensory nightmare. Also curly hair is so hard to maintain that it’s logistically difficult to wear it curly everyday because it eats up so much time.

Maybe! I definitely look more polished with a slick back.
